Helsinki: J. Arthur Rank, 1951. No Binding. Fine. A vintage Finnish movie poster for the 1950 drama, The Golden Salamander, starring Trevor Howard, Anouk Aimee and Herbert Lom. The film premiered in Finland in September 1950 and enjoyed a fairly long run. This poster has a printed date of 1951 and therefore is a contemporary reprint. Standard Finnish A2 size, titles in Finnish and Swedish, as usual, measuring approximately 16" x 23.5. Printed by Fotopaino Oy. Artist signed in the plate (Lindqvist). Condition: C8, Fine/Very Fine. A folded poster with crease to middle. No obvious signs of mounting. Microscopic black mark below Anouk's chin. Slightly faded appearance but a really attractive poster

Helsinki: United Artists, 1959. 1st Edition 1st Printing. No Binding. Very Good. A Finnish, first-screening film poster for the 1959 comedy, The Horse's Mouth, starring Alec Guinness and Kay Walsh. The film premiered in Finland in Feb1959 and was never re-released. Alec Guinness was nominated for an Oscar for the screenplay. Standard Finnish A2 size, full-bleed, titles in Finnish and Swedish, as usual, measuring approximately 16" x 23.5. Printed by Piirtopaino Oy and signed by the artist in the plate. Condition: C7, Very Good, folding crease visible. Dismounting tear at top left corner (paper hanging on by a thread). 2 staple holes and light handling creases to each corner. The odd spot of colour-loss here and there. Excellent clean condition otherwise, however, this is a nice poster and uncommon.

2011. Unmounted Photo or Artwork. Fine. Brookes, Peter. A limited edition print (200 copies) of the Oz Magazine cover for number 37 (1971), Angry OZ. The original artwork by Peter "Hack" Brookes. Although numbered /200 this is such a rarity that I am inclined to believe that the actual number of prints produced was considerably smaller than 200. "Angry Oz" was the response to the outcome of the infamous Old Bailey obscenity trial which saw co-editors Richard Neville, Jim Anderson and Felix Dennis handed prison sentences. There are neither dates nor printed publisher info on the print which I believe to be a high-quality giclee print. On thick paperstock, portrait format, the sheet measures 21.5 inches by 30.5 inches. The print is numbered in pencil lower left and signed in pencil lower middle by Richard Neville, co-founder and long-standing editor, both in Australia and the UK. Helsinki: Producers Releasing Corporation/Astor Filmi Oy, 1949. No Binding. Fine. An extremely rare Finnish tour poster for the 1945 horror/exploitation movie White Pongo. The film was not released in Finland until February 1949 which dates this particular poster to later that year (it is not a first-release poster, i.e.). Measures approx 61cm by 43cm, printed by Loimann Kirjapaino and the artwork is unsigned (draws heavily on the Eric Rohman artwork for the earlier Swedish movie poster). At the bottom left of the poster is a small image of Charlie Chaplin with the text "plus a Charlie Chaplin short film"). An unused example in stunning condition. Centre-fold barely visible, there are no nicks or tears and no staining - minor handling creases (thin, cheaper paper-stock) are really the only noticeable, minor fault. Finland: Allied Artists, 1963. 1st Edition 1st Printing. No Binding. Fine. A standard Finnish A2, cinema-used poster for the 1961 movie THE GEORGE RAFT STORY starring Jayne Mansfield. The film was first screened in Finland in 1963 with no subsequent theatrical runs. This poster is not a re-issue or a modern reproduction and nor is it Video/DVD-related This particular poster is 60cm x 40cm approx. It is in fantastic condition - Very Fine - microscopic pinholes really only noticeable from the verso. A minor scrape to the edge on the left. Exceptionally well preserved, clean and bright otherwise and lovely graphics - a superb example of vintage cinema art and design. At the front pastedown the previous owner's bookplate has been signed and dated (1984) by Ian Niall. Tipped in at the front endpaper is a nice short typed letter signed by Ian Niall acknowledging receipt of the request to sign the bookplate. Fine in Fine dustjacket.

London: Macdonald, 1987. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Near Fine/Fine. First Printing. Signed and inscribed by the author at the title page ("to Jerry, best wishes, Larry Niven"), uncommon thus. What would otherwise be a Fine copy has fallen victim to the curse of Macdonald - uniform tanning or browning of the text-block. Pushed at the crown a little but otherwise tight, square and bright. The dustjacket is unclipped. No owner names etc. And if your name is "Jerry", this copy was signed especially for you.

A very nice-condition Finnish movie poster for the 1941 movie NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH starring Bob Hope, Paulette Goddard, Edward Arnold & Leif Erickson. The film did not reach Finland until 1943 with no further theatrical re-release. The poster measures approximately 18" x 24", standard for the era depending on Studio/printer Condition: C8, Fine/Very Fine No pinholes or other obvious signs of mounting - an unmounted example . In astonishingly clean condition. Very thin paper-stock as you would expect, the chief condition issue with this poster are the prominent folds in both directions and a small area of creasing & discolouration along the right edge near the top, where there is also a tiny nick.
