Hoppe tipped-in portraits of beautful women around the world. #387 of 500 copies issued in its patterned, vellum-backed boards. Solid and VG+, with light rubbing and a bit of light staining along the spine, and minor abrading at the rear hinge. Internally, clean as could be, with no writing or markings of any kind. Tall quarto, each photo merits a preceding caption page, which identifies the subject and her nationality. A lovely collection, each "fair" woman photographed by Hoppe in a rich, appreciative gravure.

Clean and VG+ in its russet cloth, with lovely pictorial gilt-design and titling along the front panel and spine. Abrading and wear at the inner hinges (which are both still perfectly strong), a touch of light scuffing to the front panel and former owner name and date (1879) to the first blank endpaper. Octavo, almost 3 dozen engravings complementing Frederick Ober's text.

Clean and Near Fine in a crisp, price-clipped, VG+ dustjacket, with very light chipping at the foot of the spine. Thick octavo, part of Norton's "Books That Live for Our Times" series.

Clean and Near Fine in an unsually crisp, price-intact, Near Fine dustjacket, with just the faintest trace of very light wear at the spine ends and one tiny closed tear to the rear panel's bottom-edge. Attractive and very presentable.

Lacking the "first edition" statement to the copyright page and price-clipped to boot. Still though, a very early state and elusive as such. Solid and VG+ (very light spotting at the front panel) in a crisp, VG dustjacket, with mild soiling along the covers, just a touch of light chipping at the spine ends and mild fading to the spine. Octavo, widely viewed as her "breakthrough" book, in spite of the greatness of "Wise Blood"
