Lacking lower wrap, upper chipped, few pencil marks in text. Power laundries were an industry that primarily employed women. Marie Louise Obenauer completed this study of 31 laundries, evaluating both the working conditions and the physical demands placed on women. She includes a statistical analysis of the age, ethnicity, work experience, pay, and hours of work for over 500 of the women.

A reprint of Fitzgerald's Fourth translation, decoration of the title page: an engraving on wood in two colors by Rudolf Ruzicka. Potter 275 Ruzicka (schooled at Hull House) was a Czech/Bohemia born American wood engraver, etcher, illustrator, typeface designer, and book designer. Ruzicka designed typefaces and wood engraving illustrations for Daniel Berkeley Updike's Merrymount Press , and was a designer for, and consultant to, the Mergenthaler Linotype Company for fifty years.
