Autograph letter, signed, on United States Indian Service letterhead measuring 7.75 x 9.75 inches. In letterhead blanks Milroy has written "Yakama" for Agency and below that, "Fort Simcoe Mch. 2, 1883." Letter is written both recto and verso in Milroy's hand, addressed to "Son Bruce." Old folds, now mellowed, and two small damp smears affecting two words, but not illegibly. Milroy writes his son Bruce that a $150 check is enclosed from rent of agency buildings, and that the son should present the check to his brother, Walt, to be credited on the "Hartsuck note" held against Milroy in Puyallup. Milroy complains that Bruce doesn't write enough, and suggests son Walt visit during vacation by taking the railroad to the Dalles, then by stage to "Yakima City." Signed, "R. H. Includes an introduction by Augusto Marinoni in a 20-page accompanying booklet, saddle-stapled. Book and booklet are very well preserved; grey slipcase with a couple slight stains. A photostatic reproduction of the original manuscript with no editorial content whatsoever, recreating as closely as possible the 1509 Luca Pacioli manuscript featuring Leonardo da Vinci's illustrations, held at Milan's Veneranda Biblioteca Ambrosiana. A handsome publication.

This was Richard Eberhart's copy, with his signature in full on the front free endpaper. Full siena-red cloth, gilt device on front cover, gilt lettering on spine. Pack, still among the "Living Poets" as a Professor Emeritus at Middlebury College, is "a humane and eloquent poet who follows Robert Frost and Edwin Arlington Robinson in a major American tradition." (Harold Bloom). An exceedingly handsome copy with a unique association. Dust jacket now protected in a clear, removable archival sleeve.

An early reprint, done so by W. T. Sherwin test the government's prosecutorial powers, which had been weakened. According to James Epstein, in Radical Expression (Oxford, 1994), "conditions had changed: the government could no longer be certain of winning convictions in cases of seditious libel. Indeed, in the wake of Wooler's and Hone's legal victories, the prosecution of London's radical publishers temporarily ceased. Carlile, who had been arrested and charged with blasphemy for having reprinted Hone's parodies, was released from King's Bench prison following Hone's acquittals." Drawn in 1983 during the growing renown of Panter's "Jimbo" comic, then being published in Slash and reprinted in Raw magazine. Incidentally, this work is often referred to as "Cola Madness," with the double-s, and even Carlin uses that spelling in, perhaps, a moment of copy-editing laxity.

Dal Tokyo, which first ran in The LA Reader in the early '80s, envisions a future Mars that is inhabited by Texan and Japanese settlers. The "Dal" is short for Dallas.

With extracts from park regulations, a two-color road and trail map, a brief description, and a Washington - Oregon - Northern California road map featuring national parks. A caption to the map reads: "Mount Rainier National Park Belongs to You. Please Take Care of It." Quite scarce: While editions from other years are held by institutions, OCLC shows no holdings of this 1929 edition. Preserved in a clear archival pouch with acid-free backing.

Lavishly illustrated with 131 hand-tipped plates, full color, and numerous black and white drawings and vignettes. Bound in tan buckram with a Picasso signature stamped in orange and blue on the front cover, lettering stamped in orange and blue on spine. Slight soiling to cover edges and fore-edge, some light soiling throughout. Dust jacket with closed tears to edges and old tape repair to spine (please see photo). This was Seattle painter James Martin's copy. While nothing indicates that provenance, it does explain soiling and two paint spots on spine. The third and last volume in the "intimate secrets" series, the first two being "Picasso: Women and Picasso" and "Picasso: The Artist and His Model.
