Gettysburg, PA: J. E. Wible Printer, 1890. 1st Edition . Hardcover. VG-. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, original marble paper boards half bound with leather to spine and corners. Spine is banded with gilt text. Exterior shows spotting and soiling along with scuffing, edges and corners show wear. The text pages are tight and the only issue found with the internal binding is a thin crack and pulling at the front board. Paper is toned due to age and there is some light foxing and spotting present. The front pastedown contains a bookplate from Pennsylvania College. This is the only markings found to indicate this. No handwriting or signatures, no other markings. The bookplate may just be for faculty reference but we are considering this an ex library copy because of it.

Internal binding is good and text pages are tight. Paper is toned due to age and there is foxing and spotting present throughout. The front pastedown contains a partial bookplate from Pennsylvania College. This is the only markings found to indicate this. No handwriting or signatures, no other markings. Inspecting the pages there was one or two that had corner creases were the page was folded and then straightened out. The bookplate may just be for faculty reference but we are considering this an ex library copy because of it.

New York: G. P. Putnam's Sons / The Knickerbocker Press, 1900. 1st Edition . Hardcover. VG-. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, green cloth boards with gilt on front and spine. Boards are clean and corners are sharp. The reason for the low condition grade is because this is an ex-library copy, though there is only one small marking. The internal binding is good and pages are clean. No signatures or bookplates. On the title page, near the lower right corner, is embossed " Library of Mich. Univ.". The rear end page and pastedown are clean with only foxing and toning present. Exterior spine also has a mark about 2 inches from the bottom where it is likely a label once was. Pages are toned due to age and foxing is present, though mainly limited to the end pages. Interior binding is tight. See photos.

New York: Robert Speller, 1938. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Fair. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with dust jacket. Original price of $2.00 still present on the front flap. Stated first edition on the copyright page. Inscribed and signed by both authors to a friend and co-worker: " To Jo - With remembrance of happy days of work in room 1311, and hopes that she too will remember the author in years to come 'Hallie'. H.L. - Halbert L. Porter + E.P. - Emily Porter Blair, May 11, 1938, Washington DC". The bottom corner is then torn out with something written in pencil along the tear... Toronto: William Briggs, 1898. Hardcover. VG+. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, red cloth boards decorated in black on front and spine. Cloth is still shiny though has a few small spots, along with some minor bumps and dents. Internal binding is good and pages are tight. No signatures or bookplates, or library markings, no underlining found. Pages are tone due to age and some minor foxing is present. Some pages have some very faint creasing in their upper outer corners.

Chicago, IL: Popular Mechanics Press, 1952. Hardcover. VG+/Good+. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with dust jacket. Original price still present on the front flap. DJ exterior shows scuffing and wearing the along with foxing and spotting the but did a very good job of protecting the book itself. Blue cloth boards are clean of the with only minor edge scuffing and corner bumps. Pages are clean and binding is tight. No handwriting, no signatures, no bookplates, no grease Parks. Minor foxing is present on end pages.

New York: A. S. Barnes & Co,, 1849. 11th Edition . Hardcover. Good+. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, original brown cloth boards, blind stamped on front and rear with gilt text on spine. Exterior shows spotting and soiling, corners are worn and rounded, front has a small dent in center and spine shows chipping at top and bottom. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues at boards and text pages are tight. Front end page shows the names of the original owners, one is in pain and the other is in pencil. No other markings found in the book, no bookplates, no library markings. Foxing is present throughout with some pages quite spotted - though the rear end pages are the worst. The main title contains 349 pages along with another 36 pages of advertisements (mainly examples of other educational works). Title page states 11th edition. The book exterior grades as just G but interior is VG. Overall grade is G+.

Chicago: Max Stein. Soft cover. VG-. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. Softcover, dime-novel is undated but was published in the early 20th century (ca. 1920) . Printed on newspaper quality paper so pages are darkened. This Monographic Series was part of the Max Stein's Stories of Adventure series of Pioneer, Cowboy, Indian, and Mexican Border Novels (as stated on the back cover). Spine chipping at bottom. Minor stain bother on corner edge Book packed in Mylar bag.

Garden City, NY: Doubleday, Doran & Company, Inc., 1929. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, maroon cloth boards with gilt to spine. Exterior shows minor edge and corner bumps/wear along with some light scuffing, spine is slightly worn/faded. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues. Pages are tone due to age and a few smudge marks are present. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings present. Only evidence of handwriting found in book is on the front end page where an old bookstore price was once penciled in the corner and then later erased. The same and page also has a few creases to the same corner. Stated first edition on the copyright page.

New York: The Norman W. Henley Publishing Company, 1924. Hardcover. Very Good. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, dark blue green cloth boards with white design on front, white text on spine. Exterior shows little wear but cloth has spotting and loss to the shine in several areas, possibly caused by moisture. Internal binding is good and text pages are tight. Book appears not to have been used much at all, if any. Pages a mildly tone due to age but are clean. No signatures or bookplates present. An attractive copy.

Chicago, IL: The Zuriel Publishing Co., 1928. Hardcover. VG+/Fair. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Glenn Sheffer. Hardcover with hard to find dust jacket. First edition thus. Yellow cloth boards with red pictorial text on front, text on spine. No handwriting or bookplates noted. Pages show various degrees of toning to do quality of paper used. Dust jacket shows heavy staining due to somebody who reinforced the underside with masking tape many years ago. The glue from the tape has bled through to the front of the dust jacket, and has also affected the pastedowns and end pages to a lesser degree. Book condition is very good plus in a fair dust jacket. London: Oxford University Press, 1973. Hardcover. Near Fine/VG+. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with dust jacket. The original price of 4.00 net still present on the front flap. The book was removed from our store shelves and packed away several decades ago. The dust jacket shows shelf wear, mainly bumping and small tears to the edges. Yellow cloth boards underneath also show very slight toning to the edges along with a minor bump in the upper left corner. The interior the book is what you would expect for a new book, even though it is 50 years old. The pages are clean and the binding is tight and the only markings in the book is on the front end page where our store price was once penciled in the corner and then later erased. The condition grades of the book and dust jacket were lowered because of handling wear while in one of our stores.

Philadelphia, PA: J. M. Stoddart & Co., 1877. Hardcover. VG-. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Hardcover, inscribed but not signed by the author: 'To Mr. James B. Anderson with the Author's Compliments". Below this is another presentation done by another party but the 2nd one is in pencil. Illustrated and includes foldout on page 25. Text in blue ink with red borders. Dark brown end pages - both front and rear interior hinges cracked at boards. Extremely rare - first published in 1877 of which this book states is the copyright. Minor chipping noted on cloth or boards and spine. See images.

London: John Murray, 1853. 7th Edition . Hardcover. VG+. 16mo - over 5¾ - 6¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, full leather bound decorated with gilt and red on spine. Exterior shows minor soiling and edge bumps as well as spotting to the leather. Decorative marbled end pages and front and rear, both pastedowns have a few spots of fraying but are still attractive. Second end page shows the original owner being Ellis A. Franklin of Hyde Park. No other handwriting found in book. Paper is mildly toned due to age and scattered foxing is present. Binding is tight. All three page exterior edges are marbled as well. A nice quality binding.

Philadelphia, PA: Commissioners of Fairmount Park, 1922. Soft cover. Good-. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Softcover, grey wraps with black text on front. Exterior is yellowed with the age and paper is brittle, mainly on the spine area. Back cover is starting to separate at the top and bottom hinge area and toning is present on all sides. Interior pages are also toned due to age and foxing is present. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings or handwriting found. Foldout map in rear of book is present. Binding is fragile on this book. Book has been placed in clear archival bag for protection.

New York: The Viking Press, 1936. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Fair. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Valenti Angelo. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with dust jacket. The original price of $2.50 is still present on the front flap. DJ is pretty tattered numerous chips and tears, some tears measure up to almost 5 inches. Jacket is also toned and has several creases on the flap. DJ did a very nice job protecting the book underneath, the salmon colored boards underneath are mostly clean with only a few light scuffs and foxing in the gutters.. The internal binding is good and text pages are tight. Front pastedown contains the original owner's name, no other handwriting found in the book, no bookplates, no library markings. Couple pages in the front have a tan vertical line that runs from top to bottom. The original price of $7.50 is still present on the front flap. DJ shows scuffing along with edge and corner bumps/wear. Gray cloth boards underneath her clean except for a small light spot on the front board, lower right corner. Internal binding is good and text pages are tight. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no remainder marks. The only handwriting found in the book is along the top edge of the front end page where "+++" is written in red pen. Text pages are clean but the end pages and pastedowns show toning marks from the book paper reacting with the dust jacket. Stated first edition on the copyright page.

New York: Charles Scribner, 1853. First US Edition . Hardcover. VG-. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, brown blindstamped cloth boards with gilt on spine. The exterior shows a lot of fading, particularly to the spine. Edges and corners show bumps/light wear. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues. Pale yellow end pages in front and rear are free of any handwriting or bookplates, no library markings etc. The second front end page has a small name (Latimer Smalls) signature very lightly, and ornately, written in pencil. This could easily be erased. No other handwriting found in the book. Pages show only minor scattered foxing spots here and there but the end pages and pastedowns show a heavier toning.

Philadelphia, PA: The John C. Winston Company, 1932. Hardcover. Near Fine/Good-. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with dust jacket. The original price of $1.00 is still present on the front flap. DJ is toned and tattered, with numerous chips and tears. Spine shows fading. Tan cloth boards underneath are clean and the illustration on the front board is bright. There was only a few minor fade spots, mainly along the bottom front and spine. Internal binding is good and text pages are tight. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no handwriting found. Pages are toned due to age and there is some minor light foxing scattered about, particularly around the pages showing photos from the movie. The dust jacket has a low condition grade, just below the good region, but the book itself nearly grades as fine. The only reason it was lowered to NF was because of the minor spotting in the lower section of the front board and spine.

New York: Julian Messner Inc., 1950. 1st Edition . Hardcover. VG-/Poor. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Hardcover with DJ. Price clipped on front flap. Jacket also has severe chipping and a large tear on back. Pictorial end pages are free of bookplates or handwriting. No hinge cracks. Signed by the author on half title page. Page also has gift inscription from another person.
