His magnificent collection of photographs preserves the old way of life for us to study and ponder." Palmer's photographs are now housed in the Earl Palmer Appalachian Photograph and Artifact Collection at Virginia Tech. An excellent study of his work can be found in the book by Jean Haskell Speer, The Appalachian Photographs of Earl Palmer, published by the University of Kentucky Press in 1990. The effect of this act was to amend the American Prohibitory Act of 1776 to to allow the resumption of trade betwenn Britain and those parts of the American colonies that remained under British control. The signed photo was a premium given to some of Chicago's Lyric Opera "Friends" who donated during the 1982 Operathon. Accompanying the photo is a letter from the Operathon Committee explaining that the autographed photo was a substitute for a promised signed Pavarotti album, which was not available because the singer had cancelled his scheduled Chicago performance, as he was wont to do.
