Description:
Mexico City: Arts & Graphics with Giovanni Troconi, 2017. Limited Edition. Fine. Limited Edition. "This lovely portfolio-style artist book with work by Tatiana Parcero includes a striking cross-section of images: 9 prints on photo-paper and a photo-transfer on wood, for a total of 10 works with a poem by Mexican writer, publisher, and educator Alberto Roy Sanchez and certificate. Not only is this a wonderful representation of an established body of work by Parcero, it bridges series, and foreshadows future works. Most of the work included in the folio is from the Artist's established Universus series, which explores the body and its connections to the world through naturalists drawings and broken landscapes in diptych form. It also includes a work on wood; this piece is a link to newer and still evolving series and experimentations, so the folio should prove to be a pinnacle and a pivot piece; it marks a shift in the artist's work and visual investigations. Yet undefined, the new work seeks to… Read More

Description:
Portland, OR, 1950. Unique. Hardcover. Very Good. Unique. Hardcover. A vibrant and unusual fashion sample book compiled by a student of Dorothy and Curtis Payton, owners of the Terrace Yarn Shop of Portland, Oregon. Dorothy (1908-1998) and Curtis Payton (1906-1983) opened their yarn shop in their home in southwest Portland at the end of the Second World War. They stocked thousands of yarns and other fabrics, as well as fabric designs and looms. Curtis was a high school and community college instructor, and Dorothy developed a loom that could fit into small spaces in apartments and schools and was marketed under the name of the Payton Loom Company. The couple also later operated as the Aloha Yarn Shop. This album very creatively uses colourful yarn backings to refashion magazine cut-outs, featuring nine fashion plates for dresses, jackets, and coats, and four interiors, including a bedspread, child's bedroom, living room, and dining room. Minor shelf/edge wear, acetate slightly browned and brittle,… Read More

Despite being a record-breaking skater, Harding was a victim of her family, a demanding sporting organization, a tragic marriage, and an insatiable tabloid culture. Pearson suggests Harding would have benefited from the protection of Juno, whom the Romans saw as presiding over all aspects of a woman's life."--Artist's statement. Tight, bright, and unmarred.
