Gently toned throughout, otherwise a clean pair internally. Some wear and chipping to spines and corners, and some toning also to spines. Very good.

A modern translation with Dore's original in-text wood engravings. Number 169 of 500 copies thus, typeset in Bulmer and printed on Abbey Pure Paper at Graphicom, Vicenza. Quarter-bound in burgundy Spaccato de Capra Goatskin with blocked cloth sides, presented in a matching printed cloth slipcase featuring a design by Dore for the 1873 Gerier Freres Edition. Burgundy endpapers. A lightly handled copy, essentially fine. Dore's illustrated edition was first published in 1871.

With the dust-jacket illustrated by Broom Lynne, priced at 8/6. Illustrated bookplate of Donald H. Ringler to front pastedown (defaced), with a faint library stamp above. A library stamp also to title page and rear pastedown. Light rubbing to boards with some bumping to corners. Four brown splash marks to lower board. Jacket rubbed to joints and edges, with a couple of small chips to head of spine. Very good. A race between certain inhabitants of Venus to gather valuable eggs from the unsuspecting savages of 'Urth,' seemingly in parody of the Colonial explorations of earlier decades.

With the photographic dust-jacket, priced at 140 Rs. Light handling, with some dulling to gilt. Near fine. An assessment of Indian naval prowess during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971.

This is Kathleen Raine's third published poetry collection, and Vita Sackville West is quoted on blurb stating Raine's poems 'are like drops of water, clear, self-contained, and sometimes iridescent with the elusive colours of mysticism.'.

Contemporary binding by Onrock and Son in full red crushed morocco with raised bands, gilt titles and decoration to spine; period three-masted tall ship made from brown and white leather onlays to centre of upper with elaborate gilt-stamped drawings, within a stylised gilt frame with gilt branches and green leaves. Branches and leaves motif repeated in gilt as dentelles, with yellow silk end papers. Contents clean, binding lightly handled. A near fine copy in a superb decorative binding.
