Description:
Clonmel, Tipperary, Ireland:: Coracle,, 2017.. Edition of 399. 9.25 x 6.5"; 144 pages. Printed three-colour offset. Typography by Colin Sackett. Casebound with headbands. Coracle: "Syntax is to word order as melody is to note order. Peal explores the analogy of melody and syntax by applying the methods of bell change ringing to rows of words: poetic lines. Each individual poem begins with a line of four to nine nonrepeating words. That line is then permuted according to one of the methods, resulting in anywhere from 12 to 240 unique variations. By convention, the word corresponding to the heaviest working bell is coloured blue (the "blue line") and the word corresponding to the treble or highest-pitched bell is coloured red. The starting lines-all quotations-form the cento that opens the book, where their inflections evoke thematic relationships. Their permutations create distinctive visual patterns as well as frequent semantic surprises. The methods have been chosen with an eye… Read More

Paper-covered boards with embossed and printed images. In the edition of 50, 1 - 31 printed on handmade paper; 32 - 50 printed on machine made paper. This is a handmade paper copy. Michelle Ray: "Natural History explores our fascination with facsimiles and the relationship between signs and the things they signify. Illustrated with a vanitas-style [a la memento mori, meant as a reminder of the ephemerality of life and the certainty of death] rabbit image as a recurring motif, this book’s brief essay looks at how things such as taxidermy and ornithological prints shape our relationship to the natural world. The viewer experiences a discord between representation and the real and is confronted with the question of which is more appealing.

Description:
New York:: Benjamin Rinehart,, 2021.. 5 x 5 x 3"rotating ring. Digital prints. Bristol board. Rotating images pose the question about gender - Is she a boy? Is she a girl? Benjamin Rinehart: "After not cutting my son's hair for nearly two years, he is more often called a girl than a boy. Why gender is used by society to validate a toddler's role in this world is vexing. After teaching kids at all ages over the years, I have found that specific and stereotypical gender roles are extremely limiting. Shouldn't it be that each child is allowed to decide for themselves in a natural and evolutionary way about their gender?

Matt Runkle: "'Catholics' is an artist book, a limited-edition memoir that makes use of illustration, collage, and letterpress-printed typography to explore the psychic cathedral built by my Catholic traditionalist upbringing. Beginning with an anti-clerical quip by Tallulah Bankhead, the book takes on a range of subjects including Catholic-Masonic tensions, the fervency of converts, the legacy of the Legion of Decency, and the spiritual significance of revelatory shrouds.
