Fresh gilt bands and titles on the spines Hinges all solid. No stains or browning or foxing; insides are exceptionally clean and tight. There is a gift inscription from 1930 on the flyleaf of volume one. There is a stain on the outer edge of volume two for about 1/3 of the book, not affecting the print. An excellent story of British interlopers being harassed by the Afghans. And the Afghans have been fighting off occupiers ever since, as you know. .
