1794 ENGLISH ed French Revolution War Rabaut France Politics Bastille 2v BINDING

"The Bastille not only overshadowed the capital, but it darkened the hearts of men, for it had been notorious for centuries as the instrument and the emblem of tyranny."
― Lord Acton on the Storming of the Bastille.

Jean Paul Rabaut's history of the French Revolution was printed in 1792, during the heart of the conflicts in Paris. Rabaut discusses the reasons for many of the revolts but also the details of the conflicts. There is an entire section devoted to the Storming of the Bastille. Julian Ralph's "On Canada's Frontier," illustrated by Frederic Sackrider Remington, takes readers on a fascinating journey through the emerging territories of Western Canada at the turn of the 19th century. This book chronicles Ralph's personal explorations, firsthand observations, and rigorous studies, capturing the unique spirit of nation-building, the enduring charm of the wilderness, and the evolving human story. Readers are treated to 70 evocative illustrations, enriching this rich tapestry of life on Canada's frontier.

First published in 1724, 'Histoire d'Angleterre' begins with the ancient Britons and the Norman Conquest, William the Conqueror, through the reigns of Elizabeth I, Charles I, King James II, and finally William and Mary.
While the early French editions of Thoyras's "England" are quite popular, none are as desirable as this 1732 Tindal English edition. This enormous, two-volume edition is complete with full-page engravings and folding maps including the highly coveted double-page map of Great Britain and Ireland! Other illustrations include portraits of English kings and queens, monuments and graves, and an impressive folding map of France!

1686 Frankish Monk Ratramnus Eucharist Supper Carolingian Catholic Blood Jesus
Ratramnus was a 9th-century Frankish monk who served the Corbie Monastery. Ratramnus was a Carolingian theologian who is primarily remembered for his work 'On the Body and Blood of the Lord'. This book was a direct response to Paschasius Radbertus's treatise of a similar title which described the elements of the Lord's Supper, or Eucharist as it pertains to the blood of Christ. Ratramnus argued that the elements did not physically change property, that they remained bread and wine and did not become Jesus's blood and flesh – a debate which has lingered for centuries within the Catholic Church.

1665 NAPLES Revolt of 1647 Spain Thirty Years War Raimond Mormoiron Napoli RARE
Esprit de Raimond de Mormoiron was a 17th-century French military writer known for his role in the Battle of La Marfee during the Thirty Years' War as well as the more famous Naples Revolt of 1647. In the summer of 1647, Spanish rule placed numerous excessive taxes on the locals of Naples which spurred a violent, months-long revolt. Mormoiron's first-hand account of the Naples Revolt has long-been one of the best accounts of the uprising and is an important source on the feudal and political climate of Spanish and Neapolitan nobility during the Thirty Years' War.
