Pictorial endpapers in green ink; 7 full-page color illustrations and smaller illustrations on every other spread, alternating between full color and b&w. Spine ends and corners a bit worn, edges a bit rubbed, some light soiling and stains to front cover, minute traces of hand-soiling in a few page margins, else an internally clean, tight copy.
First edition. A collection of humorous stories about a group of anthropomorphic animals who find themselves in delightfully strange situations. The charming illustration of Keith Ward (best known as a commercial illustrator who created Borden's Elsie the Cow as well as the 1940 editions of Dick and Jane) are reminiscent of the work of Harrison Cady and capture the brightness and levity of these amusing tales.
