Evanston, Illinois: Unpublished, 1957. Black and white photograph of General Ridgway and two other men. To the general's right is a young Bob O'Brien, who many years later was Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs in the Reagan Administration. I have not yet identified the person to Ridgway's left. In all likelihood the photograph was taken circa 1957 on the campus Northwestern when O'Brien was a senior journalism student--Ridgway is also an alumnus of Northwestern. Provenance: from the collection of Robert O'Brien. The photograph is in excellent condition: clean, bright, and crisp, with perhaps a hinto of toning on the verso. Ripper’s detailed watercolors have appeared on 100 magazine covers, 81 United States postage stamps, and 575 conservation stamps for the National Wildlife Federation. "Cardinals on Holly" was painted circa 2010 by the artist for his friend Codell Jones. The painting measures 11 inches by 8 1/2 inches and is archivally double-matted (17" by 14 1/2") and shrinkwrapped.
