Rippers detailed watercolors have appeared on 100 magazine covers, 81 United States postage stamps, and 575 conservation stamps for the National Wildlife Federation. "Cardinals on Holly" was painted circa 2010 by the artist for his friend Codell Jones. The painting measures 11 inches by 8 1/2 inches and is archivally double-matted (17" by 14 1/2") and shrinkwrapped. Featured in the foreground of the image is Roche's portable dark tent. On the verso is a large Anthony advertising label that lists the "principal places of interest" in Yosemite.
