The recipient is the celebrated photographer who provided the author's portrait on the rear flap of the dustwrapper. Mr Raban would indeed look intelligent in the photograph were it not for his unfortunate choice of hat.Very good indeed in near-fine dustwrapper slightly creased at the edges.

Fifty tipped-in colour plates with captioned tissue guards. For this edition, in order to keep the number of plates at fifty, one of those from the 1906 edition was substituted by the new frontispiece. This is also the first edition to have the plates interspersed in the text rather than gathered together at the rear. Decorated cloth gilt.Some tanning to free endpapers.
