The Austrian writer Sacher-Masoch's profusely-illustrated, sentimental portrait of the Jewish people in Europe, their customs and culture. His erotic novel Venus in Furs inspired the term "masochism," which he did not approve of.

A treatise written in response to Thomas Malthus' works on population, primarily An Essay on the Principle of Population. Written during a time when population growth was viewed with fear in England, analogous to terrorism in modern times. Salder's work contradicts those notions, and proposes that population growth is not the great menace it was made out to be.
