Most interestingly, the volume is housed in a vernacular dust jacket, stapled to the wraps, which has several advertisements for Cleveland businesses, mostly catering to the African-American community in intown Cleveland, ca. 1968. The book itself (an apparent exploration of modern Catholic teaching in the shadow of Vatican II; aimed at an adolescent audience) is scarce, but we are at least as interested in the jacket.

Chillicothe, Ohio: Ely, Allen & Looker, 1850. First Edition. Hardcover. Very good +. Octavo, 239pp., illustrated. A crisp, clean copy, very good or better, with wear at the crown, a few spots to bottom edge, and an owner's stamp on the front free endpaper, otherwise clean. An account of the "Burr Conspiracy," a supposed aborted plan by Aaron Burr to establish an independent country in the southwestern United States territory (then unorganized), along with parts of Mexico. Blennerhassett, one of Burr's co-conspirators, was an Anglo-Irishman from Hampshire, who settled on the Ohio River near what is now Parkersburg, WV. His notoriety in southern Ohio explains the Chillicothe imprint. Howes S13, Sabin 74878. An appealing publisher's binding, to boot, with elaborate curving of the long spine title.

This copy SIGNED and INSCRIBED by Salgado to Timothy Nadeau, then-Associate Administrator of the Aperture Foundation, whose business card is neatly taped to the sleeve on the rear paste-down, which holds the caption booklet (as issued). An appealing association copy of this massive and deeply moving volume of photographs depicting individuals from the great mass of people worldwide who pick crops, manufacture everyday objects, and do all other kinds of manual labor.

Octavo, 248pp. A fine, bright, lovely copy in like dust jacket with two very small rubbed spots on the rear panel. $4.00 price intact. Third state with dedication page tipped in after the copyright page. Really a fresh, bright example, suitable for any Salinger completist.

Garden City: Doubleday, 1966. First Edition. Hardcover. Very good/good +. Octavo, 391pp. A very good copy, gnetly shaken, with a lifted bookplate to the front paste-down. In a good or better dust jacket with general rubbing, and some small chips. A fantastic association copy, SIGNED by Salinger on the front free endpaper and INSCRIBED to Godfrey McHugh, who was a top military aide to John F. Kennedy while Salinger was serving as Kennedy's Press Secretary. The inscription reads: "To Godfrey McHugh who served the President with honor and distinction. From a man who is proud to be your friend. Pierre Salinger." McHugh has made a few ink markings in the text where his name is mentioned, including the Index. Abrams did not state first or later printings during this period, but we presume this is a later printing, as the Abrams logo on the front panel appears to be that of ca. 1970-74. A slightly shaken copy, good or better, with general scuffing to the edges, especially the corners. Still a crisp, sound copy. In a very good dust jacket, showing mild edgewear and some scrapes/abrasions to the rear panel, which is typical for this title. Nevertheless a fantastic copy, SIGNED boldly in purple ink by Dali and dated 1976 on the blank leaf opposite the title page. Signed copies of this excellent volume are rather uncommon compared to some of other of Dali's books.

Ex-library, but hardly any markings to the text, which is attached to the covers with tape. Internally clean and bright, with plates present. Truly uncommon, with apparently just one physical copy found in OCLC.

[Boston]: Boston Herald, 1950. First Edition (?). Staplebound. Near fine. Octavo, 52pp., illustrated by Vic Johnson. A near fine copy in the pblisher's stapled wraps. One dull vertical crease down the page block, near the spine, else a very nice, clean copy. An obsessive and comprehensive review of the great game - strategies, best practices, etc - with illustrations by the Boston Herald cartoonist. Ephemeral, with no copies recorded in OCLC, though we presume several are hiding at the bottom of uncatalogued odds and ends, especially in the greater Boston area.

New York: Sam'l Gabriel Sons & Company, 1920. Very good. Seven die-cuts, mostly measuring about 4" x 6" (give or take). A few faint creases (most notable to some of the ears), some even dust-soiling, but in very good condition overall, with the paper stands hinged to the versos, and all functional (though somewhat precariously). A whimsical menagerie, including two horses, two dogs, a cat, a chicken, and a pig. Uncommon.
