Sachar's tale concerns a miscarriage of justice and one boy's navigation of the juvenile detention system. Camp Green Lake, where the protagonist is being held, is a juvenile facility in the scorching American desert and is haunted by what's buried beneath its sand. Minor wear to the extremities, otherwise a pleasing copy.

John Sack's writing records Calley's thoughts and reactions to the public outcry which ensued after the beginning of the investigation of the Mylai massacre. Here Sack produces a record of conversations between him and the convicted war criminal which took place over a period of one hundred days. The dust jacket is price-clipped with a small crease to its front flap.

The novel follows a pendant struck in 1607, and the people it is passed down to throughout American history. The setting begins at Plymouth Rock, shifts to Valley Forge, then to the era of John Brown, and finally ends shortly before World War II. A lovely set.
