Lyon, France: J. B. Pélagaud, 1865. Hardcover. VG-. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, original binding of marbled paper covered boards half bound with leather to spine and corners. Gilt text and bands on spine as well. The exterior shows some scuffing and soiling along with minor edge and corner wear. The internal binding has a few issues but for the most part the pages are tight. There is some pulling at both boards and the biggest issue is that the page section 227-230 is detached. This problem can be easily repaired if desired. This is an ex church library copy, with the title page stamped Redemptorist Library, St. Alphonsus Church of New Orleans. There is also a bookplate on the front pastedown showing this. No other markings found in the book. Pages are toned due to age and foxing/spotting is present throughout.

New York: Grosset & Dunlap, 1923. 17th Printing. Hardcover. Very Good/Poor. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. Photoplay. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with dust jacket. DJ is in poor shape and in several pieces, there is also a large section of the spine missing. The jacket has been placed in a protective mylar sleeve to minimize any future damage. Light blue cloth boards underneath show some spotting and a bit of spine fade but have otherwise been always protected by the dust jacket. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues. The are no signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no handwriting, nothing torn or loose. Paper is toned due to age but pages are otherwise clean with the exception of scattered foxing which is mainly around the illustration pages. This is due to the two different types of paper reacting over the many decades.

New York: The Neale Publishing Company, 1916. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, maroon cloth boards with gilt text on spine. This is the original 1916 publication and not a modern reprint. Exterior shows some light damp staining along the edges and spine is mildly darkened. Internal binding is good and text pages are tight. No hinge issues, no bookplates, no library markings, no signatures. The only handwriting found in the book is on the rear end page where there is a light "10" with the line above it penciled in the upper corner. The book would normally great as a strong VG to VG+ but the interior pages show some waviness in the upper outside corner quadrant, which is likely also caused by moisture. This does not affect the readability of the book in any way and this issue may be able to be pressed out.

New Haven, CT: Yale University, 1909. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Fair. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, blue cloth boards with gilt on front and spine. Exterior shows handling wear and soiling along with edge and corner bumps/wear. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues at boards though there is an issue with the text pages. The reason for the low condition grade is that page 219/220 is only attached by the top inch and page 221/222 is missing. All other pages are present and secure. Book would grade as VG if not for this issue. Paper is toned due to age and there is some minor spotting and foxing. This came from the estate of Benjamin Thaw Jr., who was listed as a graduate for 1909 (see our book #221088 for his 1906 Yale book with signature). There is no reference to this in the book but this volume was included with other Yale books which contained his name. It is likely the missing page has something to do with him. As far as… Read More

The interior appears complete, although the rear end page has the top section cut off. Pages are toned due to age and there is foxing and spotting present throughout. Some pages have small corner folds present. The front end page in pastedown contains some handwriting written lightly in pencil which appears to be the only handwriting found in the book. There are a couple ink spots though; starting at the front board, continuing with a few pages here and there although it's mostly on the exterior page edges and boards. Please note is fragile because of the two exterior boards hanging on by just the binding string. The interior binding appears strong.
