We think the outer form was correct, but the inner form containing pages 2, 15, 14, 3, 6, 11, 10 and 7 was rotated 180 degrees in the press so that page 6 and page 2 were "swapped", pages 11 and 15 swapped, pages 10 and 14 swapped, and pages 7 and 3 swapped. This results in the pages and signature E being out of order (the first four leaves have signatures E, E[4] ,E[3], E[2]). 8vo (5 x 7 3/4 inches). Publisher's brown cloth, blindstamped decorated covers, and gilt decorated spine. An exlibrary copy, with glue residue and staining to the front endpapers and mild residue to rear pastedown where pocket was removed. Embossed stamp to title page. Previous owner name inked on 2 endpapers. No spine labeling, presents nicely on the shelf. Corners and head/tail spine panel worn. First 30 pages or so with grubby reader's marks on the page edges. Bookplate of Dr. Sydney Ross. Inked signature on page 1 "Petrus Guichard", and with stamp of Pharmacie Despech Guichard, Succr on title page. Extensively annotated throughout in pencil, presumably in the hand of Guichard. Marginal notations as well as tipped in sheets, all done in a manner that the text can be read and notes folded out of the way. A previous dealer listing (included) suggests the signature and annotations are likely one Pierre Guichard, b1840 (author of various chemical works). Boards.

Several inscriptions on first few endpapers which we cannot decipher. Leather bound. Loosely translated title: "The Holy Franciscus of Sales Prince Bishop of Geneva Catholic prayer and hereditary book for pious Christians who dedicate themselves to a life of mystery. With episcopal approbations." (google translate) Apparently scarce, with no copies found in OCLC/Worldcat.

This one we've dated to 1975 based on the Welcome message from Director Scherer (who was at NASA in this position from Oct. 11, 1971 until Jan. 19, 1975 and the narrative on page 18 which describes unmanned Spacecraft used by NASA. That page describes 24 unmanned launches planned for 1975 (18 from NASA facilities at the Cape and six from the Western Test Range).
