Fine in custom folding box of oatmeal colored boards with motif of insects taken from the book on three inner flaps. An artist's book of 28 color lithograph plates and occasional text, combining charmingly whimsical characters with a disturbing story of an abusive father and a devouring mother. Niki de Saint Phalle, sculptor, painter and film maker and feminist hero. Her work has elements of Pop Art, Surrealism, folk and outsider art. Creator of monumental garden in Tuscany. Foxing to extreme edges of some plates, not near image. Saint-Sauveur was a pseudonym for the pujblisher. Preface by R. Ed. André. With 44 photographic plates and plans of French estates, inclujding Angervillers, Hotel Cassini, Chateau Bijou and properties at Neuilly-sur-Seine, Nanteau-sur- Lunain and others. Eight early 20th century gardens, including two designed by André. Preface includes an historical sketch, classifications of styles and principles for the lay-out of modern gardens in four basic styles. (Date not precise - circa 1920s). Portfolio. Very Good. Folio.
