First edition. The third book in Hudson Talbott's Tales of King Arthur, retelling Arthur's early adventures in establishing himself as king and how he came to earn the magical sword Excalibur. The author/artist was apparently upset with this first printing which was not laid out as he had intended and so this copy bears a handwritten statement by him to that effect! It's so fun when author's lament the errors in their own work!

With a bookplate signed by the author, Newbery Medalist Mildred D. Taylor, laid in.
First edition. 1977 Newbery Medal Winner! Set in Mississippi at the height of the Depression, this is the story of one family's struggle to maintain their integrity, pride, and independence in the face of racism and social injustice. Nonetheless, a very attractive copy with all color plates in clean, bright condition.
