Book This is a collectible copy of an early printing of the second Little Golden Book bound in the original blue cloth spine and in its dust jacket as issued. This is an 8th printing in January 1945. The back cover is Style #2.2 – "The Little Golden Library" title with a numbered list to #19. Size: 7.5"-8" - Small Octavo (Sm. 8vo). Item Type: Book. Text block is tight, bright and unmarked. Description:
Mill-Cliff Publishing Co, Dayton, OH, 1989. Hardcover. Fine Condition. Book An annotated listing of 590 items "which were printed, or which are presumed to have been printed, in Ohio before 1821," with an index to Ohio printing points and index to printers, publishers and presses. This is one of 900 copies of the updated printing of the 1941 original compiled by the Ohio Historical Records Survey. An additional 100 numbered copies were issued in a "limited deluxe binding" with a morocco spine. Although this is not one of the deluxe bindings, it is, nonetheless, a very attractive binding. It is not a facsimile of the original, since it has been completely reset in new type. From the Publisher's Preface: "The life and existence of the 'Imprints' series was typically relegated to that forbidden section of most libraries called 'Reference Only,' a graveyard for most scholarly works. The 'shelf-life' of the 'Imprints" was further reduced by… Read More

Description:
MacMillan, New York, 1969. First Thus. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Very Good+ Condition/Near Fine. Illustrator: Nonny Hogrogian. Book Signed by Illustrator. An English version, freely translated from the German by Elizabeth Shub with woodcuts by Nonny Hogrogian. Warmly inscribed by the artist with a drawing of a pear (which is central to the story): "For [name], | with pleasure and a [pear], | [signature]." From the front flap: "Theodor Fontaine's disarming poem, still taught to schoolchildren of Germany, has for generations remained a much-quoted and anthologized favorite in that country. How Sir Ribbeck outwitted his miserly son and made sure that the village children would be supplied with pears from his tree even after his death will win the admiration of readers of all ages. Nonny Hogrogian's rich, humorous woodcuts bring Sir Ribbek and his village magnificently to life and turn a nineteenth century classic into a warm and modern picture book." Hogrogian won the… Read More

Description:
Imprint Society, Barre, MA, 1970. Limited Edition. Hard Cover. Collectible - Very Good/None as Issued. Book Signed by Editor. VG- HB with no slipcase. Limited Ed., #937 of 1,950. Signed letterhead card from McCorison presenting this copy with the note "Glad you like the book" pasted onto FEP. That plus nice selection of the leaf from the 1810 First Edition tipped in--the start of the history of Revolutionary-era publisher John Holt of the "Newyork Journal" (pp. 150-151)--makes this a desirable copy. However, it is marred by the fact the binding is broken (webbing visible, though still holding) at the half-title page. Size: Octavo (8vo; up to 9 3/4" / 20-25 cm tall). 650 pages. Item Type: Book.
