Approx. 11in by 8.5in, oblong 8vo. 64pp with numerous full page colour illustrations and monochrome text illustrations. This is the first of 13 Golliwogg books written and illustrated by the Uptons. In this first book in the series the golliwogg was not intended as the 'star' of the show and he was really just a supporting character to the Dutch peg dolls, appearing in just over a third of the illustrations. However he proved so popular at the time that he became the central character in the subsequent books. In all of the Upton books the Golliwogg is presented as friendly and kind.
