Description:
New York, NY: Anglo-French Drug Company, 1926. General wear.. The booklet provides a brief summary of the human clinical trials conducted at the Bristol Royal Infirmary at the University of Bristol in England, under the control of Dr. Todd, to study the effects of lead selenide as a chemotherapy treatment in those with "advance cancer patients who were hopeless for any other form of treatment". There were two phases of the trial, first with 12 cases, and the second with 44 cases. At the end it was concluded that they had "definite proof that it is a useful treatment, and by no means a cure for cancer, but still a treatment which appears to prolong life and often markedly relieves the pain of advanced cancer. If reasonable care is taken there is very little danger in the treatment." Akron OH: Saalfield No. 1074, 1934. A rather unusual uncut book with an affluent family of six, plus a nurse for the children and Bim the cat and Pal the dog. Each of the punch-out characters has only one leg attached with a second to be attached according to instructions using a needle and thread. This allows the dolls to both "stand alone" and "walk". Total of three (3) character pages and four (4) costume pages. All of the costumes and accessories were designed to give the appearance of wealth and privilege to the degree of each child's costume is holding a different toy.
