Chicago: Leo Burnett Advertising, ND. Softcover. Very Good.. Approximately 8" x 10." Ink on paper. In various stages of completion.Ê These are animated advertising sketches for Keebler Cookies and Starkist Tuna, featuring the Keebler Elves and Charlie the Tuna. Charlie the Tuna, one of the most recognized U.S. ad icons, was an anthropomorphic cartoon tuna in ads that usually featured the phrase "Sorry, Charlie." The animated Keebler Elves also rank among the best-known mid to late 20th century ad mascots. These characters were created by Leo Burnett Worldwide [an advertising agency] in the early-to-mid-1960s. These pieces were acquired from a Chicago-based source, so while these are not marked, it is possible that they were created at the Chicago-based Burnett Agency.
