Description:
Poster, clay paper. [23⅞ x 16⅜ inches] A ½-inch tear at top not affecting text. Minor abrasions to bottom left. Some general light creases. Very good. Poster announcing a rally to protest the clearing out of vacant apartment buildings near the Berlin Wall. As the physical wall was dismantled and disappeared, vacant apartments next to the no-man's-land of the wall in East Berlin had been occupied, "squatted," by artists, punks, dissidents, and gays; young people with a liberal stance and creative energy. Offi cial clearing of the building by the police was often abetted by neo-nazi and fascist parties who participated in the harassment of the squatters. All posters are presently stored between acid free boards, flat, under weight. They will be shipped rolled, in tubes.

Description:
New York, N.Y.: Colfranc, 1961. Wraps. Very Good. Octavo. 56 pp. Previous owner's signature on title page, else fine. For bass voice (or unison male chorus), brass, organ, percussion and theremins (revised for ondes-martenots in 1961).Text from the Popul-Vuh, translation from Spanish to English in front matter. "O Builders, O Moulders! You see. You hear. Do not abandon us, Spirit of the Sky, Spirit of the Earth. Give us our descendants, our posterity as long as there are days, as long as there are dawns. May green roads be many, the green roads you give us. Peaceful, very peaceful may the tribes be. Perfect, very perfect may life be, the existence you give us. . . ." "I conceived the music as having something of the same elemental rude intensity of those strange primitive works. The execution should be dramatic and incantatory, guided by the imploring fervor of the text."

Description:
42 pp. black line print (diazotype; one side) folded to form a score with 42 pages, secured with original paper tape on spine. Titled "Quartetto de Cordas (No 1)," a copy of a fair manuscript of Villa Lobos's first string quartet. Very good with no marking and little if any soiling, with typical tanning of paper and fading of image. Supposedly composed in 1915 and revised in 1946. Originally composed in Friburgo, Brazil, and performed by the Quarteto de Friburgo in 1915. The 1915 version may have had only three movements. Villa Lobos my have recreated the original quartet and added three more movements in 1946 (see Peppercorn and Tarasti). This diazo is a copy of a fair copy of the six movements, probably created in 1946, with the signature of the copyist below the final bar line. On p. 1, below Villa-Lobos's name on this copyist put, "Friburgo 1915." The score as it appears here has six movements. "Cantilena" (Andante); "Brincadeira" (Allegretto scherzando); "Canto lírico" (Moderato); "Cançoneta"…

A life of Virgil (pp. v-x), unattributed, The AEneas, Georgics, and Pastorals. Then o'er the running Stream, or standing Lake,A Passage for thy weary People make; With Osier Floats the standing Water strow;Of massy Stones make Bridges, if it flow:That basking in the Sun thy Bees may lye,And resting there, their flaggy Pinions dry:When late returning home, the laden Host,By raging Winds is wreck'd upon the Coast.Wild Thyme and Sav'ry set around their Cell,Sweet to the taste, and fragrant to the Smell:Set rows of Rosemary with flow'ring Stem,And let the purple Vi'lets drink the Stream.—Georgics, Book IV
