247 pages, very little wear. A baker's dozen of short stories featuring Van de Wetering's Amsterdam detectives, Grijpstra and de Gier. Amsterdam isn't exactly a hotbed of violent crime, but the most bizarre cases tend to be passed to Grijpstra and de Gier. Van de Wetering's writing has been described as a curious blend of wit and the macabre.

A little wear. 256 pages are all clean and tight. Originally published in 1928, this is the fourth of twelve novels in the Philo Vance Mystery series. Although Vance appeared in only 12 books, Hollywood made 15 Philo Vance movies between 1929 and 1947, and three radio drama series.

No dust jacket. First thus. Tan fabric covered boards, faded along the upper and lower edges and over the spine. Gilt print on the front and spine. The pages are clean, tight and intact. Owner's name inside the front cover. Not rare, but not common. This book will ship at over three pounds. Excess shipping costs are included in the list price.

Trade paperback. Some wear, the most significant being 3.5 cm tear along the lower spine (see photo #3 for a close-up). Add a crease, the usual corner abuse and one single dog-eared page, and you've got it. Well, except for the crinkliness that come with a paperback that was stored in a humid place. Not water damaged so much as "water influenced". Sammy Keyes solves the mystery, either saving her mother, or convicting her. You will have to read it to find out which.
