The author is a cultured woman who comes from a long line of scholars, so her ability to write cogently should come as no surprise, and the fact that her husband was a famous sculptor is not her only claim to fame. The Adventure of Living, her autobiography, was published in 1984. The Round of Life, self-published in 1989, is fiction on the subject of reincarnation, and is illustrated with three portraits, which I assume are by the author, since no illustrator is mentioned. The Adventure of Living is not signed, but The Round of Life is inscribed by the author and dated 1994. Both books are crisp and pristine. The jackets are preserved by mylar Brodart covers. .

New York: Union Publishing House. Very Good with no dust jacket. Hardcover. A very attractive copy, in quite good condition for its age. I see no date. Tjhe Library of Congress states a publication date of 1883. I see publication dates of 1885 and 1886 stated elsewhere. I wonder if others listing this title actually know, or are just guessing. This copy is described as "sold only by subscription", and there certainly could be repirnts. It is a very handsome late nineteenth century volume, for sure. There is slight wear to the bottom of the spine but only very light edgewear elsewhere. The gilded edges are only slightly tarnished, The binding is quite sound. Inside you will find a foldout map of the circumpolar stations, which looks unopened. The illustrations are quite marvelous. A very nice piece of Victoriana. The boards are present, but the book is completely detached, and the spine is missing. However, the textblock itself is sound and in quite good condition, and the book could easily be rebound. Six foldout charts are included loose. These show how some aspect of dress (bodice, sleeves, headwear, etc.) changed over the time unit the book details (1600-1660). Some of the charts are in excellent condition and others are starting to crumble a bit and should be handled with care. However, none is in poor shape.
