Description:
This is a stated first edition of The Real Life of Alejandro Mayta, by the Peruvian writer Mario Vargas Llosa. It is a psychological portrait of a modern revolutionary and the account of an old friend's struggle to understand him. The novel probes the long and checkered history of radical politics in Latin America, by recounting the investigation into a failed rebellion led by Alejandro Mayta and a young military officer named Vallejos in Jauja, a town in the Peruvian highlands, in 1958. In each of the novel's first nine chapters, the narrator researches the uprising, interviewing participants in the rebellion and individuals connected to its organizers. This book was a gift; the jacket is price-clipped and the recipient wrote his name on the front endpaper--he later crossed it out, and it is small. There is no evidence that he read it though. There is the tiniest amount of shelfwear to the jacket; the rest of the book is pristine.

The novel discusses the Westernization of indigenous peoples through missions and through anthropological studies, and questions the notion that indigenous cultures are unchanging.

This sheet music is to one of the songs from the 1929 film The Vagabond Lover, which is an early example of a vehicle being created for a popular music star.
It is A Little Kiss Each Morning (A Little Kiss Each Night), which was written by Harry Woods and recorded by Vallee. It refers to the film as a 'Radio Play', although it was published in 1929, when the movie came out.

It was Rudy Vallee's first feature film, and also starred Sally Blane, Marie Dressler, and Charles Sellon.

This is three complete sets of sheet music, and one missing one sheet. All in excellent condition.
Together, they were used in numerous films.

1. Sweet Sue, Just You
This song was written in 1928, by Victor Young & Will J Harris. It was popular at the time then, in 1932, Brunswick Records thought that it would work again with Bing Crosby. It was duly recorded, but the company felt it was a dud and didn't release it. It was finally released in 1968 and has since appeared on a couple of Crosby's compilation albums.
It has also been recorded by Django Reinhardt, Benny Goodman, The Mills Brothers, Fats Waller, Tommy Dorsey and Miles Davis. It was used repeatedly by Lucille Ball & Desi Arnaz, and has appeared in the following films: Boys Town (1938), Second Chorus (1940), Rhythm Parade (1942), The Major & the Minor
(1942), Some Like it Hot (1959), They Shoot Horses, Don't They? (1969), All That Jazz (1979), Sweet & Lowdown (1999), Red Betsy (2003) and The Master (2012).

Description:
1.That Melody of Love, from MGM's 1927 production 'Love'.
Love is a silent film directed by Edmund Goulding and released by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. MGM made the film in order to capitalize on its winning romantic team of Greta Garbo and John Gilbert who had starred in the 1926 blockbuster, Flesh and the Devil.
Taking advantage of the star power, a drama was scripted based on Tolstoy's Anna Karenina. It provided the public with a taste of Gilbert-Garbo eroticism that would never again be matched. The publicity campaign for the film was one of the largest up to that time, and the title was changed from the original, Heat.
It is 3 pieces of music + covers. The music is perfectly usable; the cover is not in great shape and would need professional attention.
2. I've Grown So Lonesome Thinking of You, from You'll Find Out
Also from 1926, is sheet music to the song I've Grown So Lonesome Thinking of You, a ballad foxtrot written by Walter Donaldson & Paul Ash.
