Hardcover, brown cloth boards, blindstamped with designs of stars and triple crescent moons. Exterior cloth is still shiny but there is edge and corner bumps/wear. Internal binding is good, no serious hinge issues though the front hinge is just starting to show small hairline cracks. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, nothing torn or loose. The only evidence of handwriting is on the front end page where you can see old dealer info pricing that was written in pencil and then later erased. Pages are toned due to age and there are a few smudge marks and spotting scattered about. First edition thus with a single date of May 1909 appearing on the copyright page.

New York: The Macmillan Company, 1909. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Poor. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, three-quarter bound leather with wheat cloth on boards. The reason for the low condition grade is because the front board was removed and displayed because of the bookplate. The front end page section has also detached. The book is complete, it's just in three pieces. The text pages are still tightly bound with no issues. Pages are tone due to age and some very minor spotting/foxing is present. This is the first edition with the copyright page stating a single publication date of September, 1909. The bookplate belong to Arthur Williams and displays the Williams Coat of Arms and is identical to the one displayed in the Ione K Wiechel Bookplate Collection at Kent State University.

Softcover, tan card stock wraps decorated with blue and red with the Christian warrior flag on front and rear. Both front and back shows wear something was scribbled with pencil and then attempt to erase. Exterior also shows soiling as well as edge and corner bumps and a slight drink ring on the front. Interior pages are toned due to age and some spotting and smudge marks are present. Previous owner's name written in pencil on the page opposite the copyright. No other handwriting found. Rear end pages have a small corner fold. Book has been placed in a protective archival bag for storage.

Hardcover, original binding of marbled paper covered boards half bound with leather to corners and spine. The leather is extremely worn in the spine is very brittle with a million cracks to the leather to the point where pieces will flake off if fiddled with. Exterior hinges are also cracked and broken so boards are precariously held on by only a few pieces of the binding string. The interior is in much better shape will exterior hinges are cracked at the boards. All of the binding of the text pages is good and tight with no issues. This particular edition did not have a title page, as some bound issues do. Instead, it starts with November 1897 and goes through April 1898. The binding is tight but the wraps are brittle and show quite a bit of chipping and staining there is also old dampstains present with some in the front covering most of the pages the bulk of the interior pages are not affected though once you get to about the May edition there is a faint dampstain along the top edges. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, and the only handwriting found was on the spine where there is the title written along with a few pen marks in the center.

This original edition is in Russian and we apologize if we butchered the translation. Exterior is toned due to age with handling and soiling present, edges and corners show bumping. The internal binding is good the binding is a bit too tight in the rear quarter of the book. This may be caused by the binding step or book may have been repaired at some point. Pages are quite toned due to type of paper used. No signatures or bookplates, no handwriting, no underlining, no library markings. The title page has a stamp at the bottom in English which reads "Printed in USSR". A very uncommon book to find in the 1960 printing. The book contains numerous black-and-white and color illustrations.
