George Allen & Unwin. First edition published by George Allen and Unwin in 1934. This is a very good or better copy. The bright mustard jacket has minor wear to the top and bottom of the toned spine. There are two small tears to the top edge. There is general minor wear to the edges and corners. On the reverse of the jacket is a piece of tape that has repaired one of the tears. It has been price clipped. The book has the odd mark to the boards but overall is very clean with no marks or foxing to the pages. Overall a very good or better copy. Waley's translation of the Tao Te Ching, one of chinas most famous books dating to the end of the third century B.C. It is based on Waley's close study of early Chinese literature. He provides an introduction and commentary on each part. A very rare book to find in first print and with the jacket. A key Arthur Waley title.  . Very Good. There are tape marks to the reverse of the jacket at the spine ends. The William Belcher jacket hasn't been price clipped with the spine faded. The boards are in excellent shape as is the book with no ink or any other marks. Hodder & Stoughton. First UK edition published by Hodder & Stoughton in 1920. This is a very good copy with the illusive dust wrapper. The wrapper has small slithers of loss to the top and bottom of the spine and to the corners. There are 2 small tears to the front panel. The spine has browned. The price on the spine is showing as 6'- net. The book in red boards has sunning to the spine ends and the corners are lightly rubbed. The first couple of pages have a patch of browning. There are no foxing marks though to the pages or text blocks and no previous owners ink. Overall a very good copy. The unusual and rarely found dust wrapper shows a map of Russia covered in darkness. H.G. Wells writes a series of essays about Russia after he visited there in 1914 and then again in 1920 and these were originally published in The Sunday Express as he was travelling through the country. There is a small amount of loss at the top of the spine. There is also a tiny tear to the top left hand corner of the front panel. The top of the back panel has tear that has been repaired to the reverse. along with a small water stain mark to the reverse of the jacket at the bottom of the spine and a tiny tear to the bottom edge of the front panel. The book has a tiny amount of rubbing to the bottom of the spine and a corner tip. Otherwise the book is excellent with clean pages. Overall a very good or better copy. A striking dust wrapper design by M Alleyne showing capitalists on a viewing platform watching men fighting each other below really encapsulates the theme of the book being the author's guesses and forecasts for the future. The book in red boards with a goshawk motif on the front board is square and tight. The maroon topstain is bright and there is no foxing at all. Alderney. First and only printing. This being number 4 of 100 copies only. A very good or better copy. There are some light marks to the edges of the boards. Overall an excellent copy with its original but battered acetate jacket. This is a presentation copy inscribed by T.H. White to his friend Harry Griffiths with a heart and arrow motif. White has also written a lengthy poem to one of the rear blank. It is a 16 line poem called "did he who made the lamb make thee?" A scarce title signed and to find with the unpublished poem.  .
