INSCRIBED BY ART YOUNG on the second blank page, along with a self-portrait with the caption "Nine years after the trip." Very scarce, especially signed. One of a thousand numbered copies, although this copy not numbered and likely reserved for the author's use. Art Young was an American cartoonist and writer, best known for his socialist cartoons. Racial and sexual discrimination and the injustices of the capitalist system were prevalent themes in his work. Young wrote and illustrated three books depicting Hell, updating Gustave Doré's famous engravings of Dante's Inferno. In this--the final book in the series--most of the capitalist class have been condemned to Hell.
