London, 1749. Framed Map Under Glass. (Thomas Jefferys). Framed hand-colored map, matted under glass, measures 8 x 7.5 inches. In a plain oak framed that measures 13.25 x 12.5 inches. Light foxing at the top margin, just to the right of the Orkney Islands. Vertical fold, now mellowed, as issued. An attractive map of Scotland with cartouche depicting a bird of prey enjoying freshly caught fish among a pier setting. Includes place-names of many towns, rivers, and islands, such as Canna (here, "Cannay"), Eigg ("Egg"), North Rona, Muck, St. Kilda, etc. The Shetland islands are presented in a inset.

The image presents a Martin M-130 lumbering over the Embarcadero (Coit Tower in the background), which is a curious vantage considering the Golden Gate Bridge opened in May that year. Slight age-toning and wear to corners, edge-wear and old creases, now mellowed. With two closed tears, one on the bottom edge measuring .75", the other on the left edge measuring 1.5 inches.
