Milano: Editrice Segesta, 1980. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good-/No Jacket. The full run of 1980 magazines reworked into green cloth hard covers with tan kraft endsheets. End sheets have full length creases from improper closure. I know no Italian, this appears to be done in Italian with translations into English and, from the covers "resume en Francais/zusammenfassung in Deutsch/resumen in Espanol." The binding and endsheets could be called rustic but are solid. The individual magazine covers have trace wear and the odd shipping stain, the texts themselves are decent. Consists of a single hard covered rebinding of the jan/feb-march-april 1981 issues. I know no Italian, this appears to be done in Italian with translations into English and, from the covers "resume en Francais/zusammenfassung in Deutsch/resumen in Espanol." The issue numbers are 191, 192, 193. Hard to describe, greenish (with the odd mild scar) cloth boards, somewhat wrinkled tan kraft paper endsheets, but magazines are sturdily and professionally laid in. St. Louis: C.V. Mosby, 1936. 1st Edition US No Additional Printings . Hardcover. Fair+/No Jacket. A remarkably attractive book with 2 notable structural issues. The stiff buckram boards are notably slanty (cocked) and the front hinge's paper is beginning to split. This refers to the gutter twixt the first paste down and the first endsheet. While the cheesecloth is holding and the item is an excellent candidate for repair, the hinge should be considered compromised and will need gentle handling. Text is heavy and while a trifle age darkened, but supple and unmarked.

Boston: Weeks, Jordan and Company, 1837. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Fair/No Jacket. Binding has spine chip, major corner bump, pencil eraser size splotch back cover. Exterior hinging looks decent. Inscription penciled first end sheet and this sheet and pastedown have speckling and foxing. Lots of foxing is present throughout, though mercifully text is supple and not chipped or dog eared. The major flaw, worthy of restoration is a gap at the last gutter (twixt last endsheet and pastedown) for some reason, unusually, it affects interior only, outside is fine. From the original collectors notes "Delivered on the request of the Council of Massachusetts Temperance Society, at The Odeon Boston, February 28, 1837 , the day appointed for the simultaneous meeting of the friends of Temperance throughout the world.

Pamphlet, done in some early manner akin to perfect binding as opposed to saddle stitch, 57 pp, after which follows an errata sheet. Pale blue cover with black printing which seems to be one of the acceptable versions for 'first edition' status. Since being received it has been in acid free sleeve and will be shipped in same. Foto will follow. Notably edge worn, especially bottom. Mild foxing throughout, though covers not so. Something foxing prone may have been laid twixt p. 34 & 35 as there is ultra foxed area there (small) and verso 34. 4 unopened leaves at back (top) 2 unopened leaves center (fore edge). Some other edges (age darkened) appear cut, some natural, deckle.

I have no reference to show this as first, but as it follows "Tennessee" and precedes the later writing in being publicly available it seems correct. No additional printings are listed, both title page and copyright page show dates of 1866. 224 pages, text complete. Hard cover boards are a textured, blind stamped green with aged gilt lettering of spine. The boards have notable splotching (especially the back) ripple and edge bump, but relatively decent, external hinging appears stout. The first end sheet, pale blue, has a Spencerian penciling of prior owners name. 3 pages Title page, page prior, TOC have small corrected lower dog ear. The blue end sheets and paste downs are rather foxed as are adjacent sheets, balance of text very mildly so with one fore-edge stain that has affected the margins of several pages.
