The story appears in print on the left-hand page, with the corresponding text in Wells' handwriting and color illustrations on the right-hand pages. The book was written by Wells for a child of a friend who was ill - "Tommy" saves the life of a rich man and is rewarded with an elephant. The book is larger in size - it measures 11 3/4" tall x 9 1/8" wide.

Condition:
There are a few small, light stains on the front cover; light soiling to the front cover illustrations; tiny cloth tears at the cover corner tips, and at the top-left corner of the spine. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Light foxing to the end papers, and to the first couple and last couple pages. There appears to be two characters written in pencil within the text on the 2nd illustrated page after the title page. Overall the book is in Good+ condition.

Description:
This is an antique copy of "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" with "Through the Looking Glass" by LEWIS CARROLL. Circa 1910's (there is no date of publication stated); Henry Altemus Company; Philadelphia. Both stories feature the original illustrations by JOHN TENNIEL. There is an eight page publisher's catalog at the back. The book measures 7.5" tall x 5" wide.Condition:Foxing to the front cover; soiling to the back cover and spine. Small cloth tears at 3 of the cover corners. The top and bottom edges of the spine have bits of cloth missing and tears. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Both covers are firmly attached. Tanning to the end papers. The pages are mostly clean with only an occasional smudge/stain found here and there. Pages 34-49 have a small, dark stain/foxing(?) spot at the bottom edge. Overall the book is in Good- condition.

This is a charming, antique copy of "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" with "Through the Looking Glass" by Lewis Carroll. 1898; Lothrop Publishing Company; Boston. This edition features the original John Tenniel illustrations in both stories.Condition:Clean front cover and spine; the back cover has a faint outline of a paper clip near the right edge. Sharp cover corners. Tight binding with no cracks. Both covers are firmly attached. The pages are mostly clean - here are condition issues found: light foxing to the title page; page 73 has a 3/4" tear at the bottom edge; page 115 has a vertical tear at the inner edge by the spine halfway up from the bottom edge; page 120 has a small ink smudge at the outer margin; the bottom 2" of page 125 has pulled from the spine; page 141 has a tiny tear at the outer edge; 1" tear at the outer edge of the rear pastedown. Previous owner's bookplate affixed to front pastedown. Overall the book is in Very Good- condition.

Nicely illustrated vintage copy of "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" with "Through the Looking-Glass" by LEWIS CARROLL. Published in 1925 by the John C. Winston Company. This edition features four color plates by Edwin John Prittie, and the original illustrations for both stories by John Tenniel in black & white (89 in all). Illustrated end papers in color.Condition:The gilt lettering on the spine has mostly faded, and the gilt border around the front cover illustration has partially faded. Small cloth tear at the top-left corner of the spine; tiny cloth tears at the cover corner tips. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Nice interior - the text pages are lightly age-toned and clean with only a light stain at the outer edge of page 184; the half title page has a small stain at the inner edge and an inscription written in pen dated 1935. Overall the book is in Very Good condition.
