Printed 1 side only on Japan-fold pages, very simple text. Head and tail slightly worn, 2 tiny splits to outer cloth at tail of spine, corners rubbed and slightly 'rounded', paper hinges inside covers cracked and neatly glued, small piece missing from blank top corner of front endpaper, no inscriptions, 3 small yellow paint spots on blank rear endpaper, 1 flower page torn across (geranium, not a colour plate) and invisibly repaired wih no loss (see image 5), slight fingermarking and occasional very pale foxing to margins. In print from 1910 to 1916, 210 x 150 mm, 8¼ x 6 inches, deep red covers with coloured illustration of a toddler reading his diary, top and bottom edges pinked. 10 full page coloured illustrations, a 6-line verse below each. A baby boy gets up to mischief, gets grubby in the garden, falls in the pond sailing his boat and spills the ink writing this diary. Charming. Small crease to upper corner of lower cover, small pencil mark to top corner of upper cover, otherwise near Fine crisp clean copy. The artist's name is on the upper cover as H. G. C. Marsh.
