Sole edition of this Calvinist/Puritan treatise by a prominent member of the Westminster Assembly. The address "to the Reader" states that the book is "the summe of sundry Lectures deliuered in mine own Charge" St. Magnus, London, and that some had accused him of altering what he had preached before publishing it. Some foxing and toning; faint institutional blind stamp on the final leaf; largely a reasonable copy of an uncommon work by the Church of England theologian. ESTC R875.

This is Waugh's final piece of fiction, originally published in Esquire in 1962, this is a short story featuring a protagonist of several earlier novels. A finely printed edition with a striking color frontispiece by Hale.

Born in Charleston, SC, Cohen was a prolific author. A collection of stories starring among others, Florian Slappey who was perhaps Cohen's most popular fictional character--a caricature of a black man from Birmingham. While Cohen purported to have a great deal of affection for his characters and wrote them with well-meaning affection, the patronization is apparent. Fairly uncommon in this condition.
