Inscribed in the corner of the upper wrapper: "Dr. Cushing with G.L.K.'s thanks and regards." It is probable, though not certain, that the recipient was Harvey Cushing.

First edition, copy #52 of one hundred numbered copies. The second book publication of the Typophiles, a festschrift published to honor Bruce Rogers on his return to the US from his appointments in the UK. The book is comprised of approximately thirty different signatures on a variety of papers, reflecting different formats and styles, involving 26 printers, 15 writers and 7 artists. Lacking the frontis, scattered foxing, small tears at lower edge and in gutter of the title-leaf, terminal leaf badly stained, otherwise just a fair but textually sound copy of a rare book. First edition. The dedication by Brackenridge is "To Richard Stockton, Esquire, Member of the Honorable, the Continental Congress, for the State of New-Jersey." The Prologue and Epilogue were written by John Parke (1754- 1789). Following the Epilogue appear "An Ode on the Battle of Bunkers-Hill," "A Speech by General Washington on His Entering the Town of Boston ...," and "A Military Song by the Army on General Washington's victorious entry into the Town of Boston." The constituent signatures are printed at the Thistle, Peter Pauper, Grabhorn, Spiral, Marchbanks and Pickering Presses.

[Bethesda, MD: The Artist, 1983].. Oblong quarto (13 x 24.5 cm). Ringbound decorated stiff wrapper, within acetate wrapper. Color illustrations and diecuts throughout. Very near fine. First edition. A quite early artist's book by the principal of the Popular Kinetics Press, and influential artist in the pop-up genre. Although the printed colophon calls for an edition of 280 copies, the artist has signed and numbered this as one of 200 copies, a number mirrored in her online resume. A textless narrative, printed by color offset lithography, with transitions between panels accomplished via strategic diecuts.

Fore-tips bumped, some edgewear and a bit of darkening to spine, otherwise very good. First edition. One of fifty-five copies specially printed on large paper, under the direction of Bruce Rogers, at the Harvard University Press, signed by the compiler. Uncommon in this format.

A nice association copy, likely one of the fifty copies not for sale, inscribed on the limitation page: "To Mr. A. J. Hoppé with the Author's compliments." Hoppé's bibliography of Samuel Butler saw publication by the BOOKMAN'S JOURNAL in 1925.

Paris: P. Rouquette, 1872.. xxxii,335pp. Quarto. Handsome three quarter grey morocco and marbled boards, t.e.g., others untrimmed, original printed wrapper bound in. An excellent copy. Edition deluxe of the second edition, revised and considerably enlarged. One of 108 copies printed on large paper (this being one of 100 on vergé) equipped with original etchings by Bracqueond and Nanteuil bound in as frontispieces. Also bound in are three autograph letters, signed by Asselineau, Bracquemond and Ernest Prarond. This work constitutes the first major bibliography of Hugo, de Vigny, Merimée, Dumas, Ranin, Gautier, Borel, et al. Asselineau was one of the leading proponents of the French Romantic movement and was one of the earliest champions and defenders of Baudelaire. White wrapper dust-soiled, as often, otherwise very good and unopened. First edition of the first volume of the Odell Library catalogue. One of "a very few copies only [of this deluxe issue] ... printed for private circulation." A very interesting private catalogue, printed in various colors, with Gothic and black-letter on occasion, including a wide array of unusual works in a number of fields, particularly bibliography and reference, as well as more arcane topics. Some items are accompanied by lengthy commentary or quotations from secondary sources; others are treated with frustrating brevity. This volume includes items through 1330; the second volume, published in 1879 raised the count to a total of 2,434 items. The library was eventually auctioned by Bangs.

Boston: Published by Abel Tomkins, 1852.. viii,[9]-404,[4]pp. Octavo. Heavily gilt decorated red cloth, a.e.g. Portrait frontis. Very shallow losses at crown and toe of modestly darkened spine, moderate foxing early and late, with inevitable discoloration to coated pale pink endsheets, otherwise about very good and sound. First edition of this somewhat early work by the editor, publisher and prolific author of pseudonymous ("Lieutenant Murray," etc) double-column dreadfuls for Gleason, a biography of his father, one of the founders of American Universalism. This binding is also found on copies with authorial presentations.

Blumenthal's contribution -- paper made from some of his old pillowcases -- exhibits foxing that affects slightly the adjacent leaves, otherwise fine, with the prospectus laid in. First edition. One of 140 numbered copies printed in part on dampened Hodgkinson's handmade paper and bound by the Eberhardts. The primary text relates to damp printing on power presses, with a miscellany including a letter from Joseph Blumenthal, text by De Vinne on machine printing and other relevant articles. Neat 1909 ownership inscription on free endsheet, trace of tanning to endsheets, a couple small rubs at tips, but a near fine, bright copy, and unusual thus. Folding cloth case, Second edition, US issue, of the work that constituted Beardsley's first great illustrative commission, originally issued in 12 parts 1893-4, and then in two volumes. In addition to sixteen full-page plates, four double-page plates and numerous other illustrations, this first edition in one volume includes ten additional chapter headings inadvertently omitted from the first edition. New York: Peter Blum Edition, 1982.. Portfolio of nine original etchings and one silver gelatin print photograph (images 16 x 20cm printed on 42 x 50cm sheets). The whole enclosed in hinged folding polished wood box (55 x 46 cm), titled in black. Fine. Copy #6 of 35 numbered portfolios (plus ten copies numbered in Roman for special distribution). The etchings combine photo- etching, aquatint, soft ground and sugar lift, and each is numbered and signed in the lower margin. They were printed by Peter Kneubuhler, Zurich. The sequence of images in the portfolio take as their topic a visual "forensic" extrapolation from isolated elements in the enclosed photograph, itself a publicity still from the highly controversial 1948 British film adaptation of J.H. Distributed by Jonathan Williams. One of the most significant "group" periodicals of the post-WWII years, published as an extension of the creative fervor at work at Black Mountain College, printing the works of teachers, students and sympathetic spirits. An earlier prototype was issued prior to the published sequence, but lasted only a single (scarce) issue. The regular issues were printed in editions ranging from 500 to 750 copies, and contributors. Contributors to this number include Dahlberg, Read, Ginsberg, Kerouac, Zukofsky, Mangan, J. Williams, W.C. Williams, Whalen, Oppenheimer, Selby, Levertov, Snyder, Crews, Dorn, et al. First edition of the third (2nd clothbound) novel by one of the principals of Mad Dog Inc., signed and dated by him on the title in 2008. Widely recognized as one of the key works of Post WWII Southwestern fiction, BLESSED McGILL has long been difficult to find in this condition.
