A 2" x 4 1/2" x 1 1/4" silk covered press board box with The 102nd Annual Festival of the New England Society of the City of New York, December 23, 1907, Waldorf Astoria in woven silk on box side. Affixed to the top with a ribbon tie is a scrolled piece of paper. When opened the scroll reveals a somewhat detailed map of New England. No contents in the box. The New England Society in the City of New York (NES) is one of the oldest social and charitable organizations in the United States, and was founded in 1805 to promote "friendship, charity and mutual assistance" among and on behalf of New Englanders living in New York.

Description:
Boston, MA: Atlantic Specialties Company, 1950. General wear, minor water stains.. A volvelle or wheel that helps the user find the batting average of any baseball player "in a jiffy". The user needs to turn the wheel until the arrow is pointing to the the number of times a player was at bat, this number appears through the opening on the top disk. Then one can read the battling average of the player on the top disk directly opposite the number of hits made, which is on the bottom disk. The volvelle can calculate the batting average of a player, as long as they have been at bat between 35 to 640 times. In the center of the volvelle is a black and white illustration of a man at bat, swinging and missing the ball, with the catcher and umpire behind him. The back of the volvelle is blank with the exception of a stamped "39 cents". Dated through "Catalogue of Copyright Entries: Third Series", which is a book found on Google Books that lists the copyrights of items by year. Measures 8 1/4" (diameter).

A scarce copy of an 1868 almanac published by George Beckwith (Issue No. 21) in New Haven for residents of Connecticut and adjacent states. This copy lacks the original wrappers and at least the first leaf. The almanac features the following content: eclipses, seasons, and tide tables; rates of postage; "The Anatomy of Man's Body" according to "The Twelve Constellations"; moon phases, high, tide, etc. for each month; and a "Chronicle of Events" in Connecticut from 1 July 1866 to 1 July 1867, comprised mainly of death announcements. Scarce edition of a charming and lighthearted book by a doctor, consisting of sixteen pages of humorous short stories, jokes, or scenarios.
