Avery & Sons Plow Co. illustrated letterhead is laid inside the front cover. The February 1924 letter is addressed to O.F. Walton Lumber Company, Terrell, Texas and references the sending of this catalog. The year 1919 is referenced twice in the early text but only as a statement regarding the company's expansion.

Bill Nye (Edgar Wilson Nye 1850-1896) was the founder and editor of the Laramie Boomerang. From Wyoming dot org: Nye left Laramie in 1883, advised by doctors that he could not live at such a high altitude after being diagnosed a year earlier with spinal meningitis. Two of his books, Bill Nye and Boomerang (1881) and Forty Liars and Other Lies (1882), were published before Nye left town. Compiled mainly from Nye's newspaper work in Laramie, they are what T.A. Illustrated with 4 black ink sketches, color illustrated capital initials at the start of each stanza, one water color (possibly in the hand of another illustrator) and a color illustrated patriotic title page. Light edge wear to the boards. A few spots to the contents. Poem is composed of 12 stanzas with four lines each. The Ballad of John De Rue, apparently unpublished, narrates a dream of John De Rue spending a Christmas night in the rubble of a cathedral. The water colored initials are military motifs including a sword, grenade, bugle, bomb, and grenade launcher. No provenance or information was found regarding the author or John De Rue for this unique hand written, illustrated poem.
