Disbound, [2], (iii-vi), 7-15 pp, [1] adverts, light browning, with a tiny circular wormhole in the bottom margin, forward tp edge trimmed affecting vignette. Uncommon! (177*110 mm). (ESTC T168176. Foxon, R197). Work is attributed to Thomas Richards of Jesus College, Oxford. Richards wrote it in response to Edward Holdsworth's 'Muscipula', published: London, 1709. 'Muscipula' ridiculed the Welsh, and Richards retaliated with his 'Hoglandia' a verse in Latin which satirizes Hampshire, Holdsworth's native county. First word transliterated from the Greek. Dedication on p. iii-iv is to "H--S--" [i.e. Henry Sacheverell] and is signed "M.C." (Maredyduys Caduganus = pseudonym for Richards). cf. Halkett and Laing. Signatures: A8. Contemporary hand coloured lithograph, published in 1843. Sheet 606*408 mm, Image 498*332 mm, some marginal spotting and edge browning. The drawings and water colours from this sketching tour by David Roberts of the Holy Land and Egypt were collated together into folios and released over a seven year period between 1842 and 1849 by the publisher F.G. Moon from 20 Threadneedle Street London. Louis Haghe (the Belgian lithographer and friend of Roberts) oversaw and produced all of the lithographs for this series.
