First published 1919, this is a collection of 32 soldiers' songs gathered by the Italian poet Piero Jahier whilst he was a volunteer in the trenches of the Great War. They have been harmonised by Italian composer, conductor and musicologist Vittorio Gui. Condition: This copy is in good condition for age. There is a neat taped reinforcement to the top of the spine, and light scattered foxing to the covers. The rear cover has some red ink stains but they haven't penetrated. Paperback, with stapled binding. 26.5 × 21cm, 65pp. A rare English stage adaptation of De Rojas' fifteenth century classic of Spanish literature, Celestina (Tragicomedia de Calisto y Melibea). The story tells of a bachelor, Calisto, who uses the old procuress and bawd Celestina to start an affair with Melibea, an unmarried girl kept in seclusion by her parents. It was originally published in dialogue form and is here translated into English and written for stage by Spanish academic, David Castillejo. Condition: There is a little light wear to the covers but otherwise this is in very good condition.
