Country Life. London: Country Life (1939). A first edition. 4to., original pictorial paper boards, backed with the original green cloth spine; pp. 48; An about very good copy. Missing its jacket. The boards and all pages have browned with age. The upper board has wear and rubbing to the corners. The lower board has marks, a couple of small splash marks and a small number of scratches. The corners are also rubbed. The upper board at the bottom edge says "A Country Life book London 1939". The front free end paper is heavily creased. It has a near contemporary gift inscription from 1941. The third leaf has a handful of tiny pen marks dotted at the bottom of the page. All pages have browning marks although most are sporadic and occasional. Overall an about very good copy of a scarce book. Mervyn Peake's first book and notoriously scarce. Most copies were destroyed in the blitz as the Country Life building was hit, just as the book was about to be… Read More

The Viking Press. New York: The Viking Press, 1983 8vo., printed soft wraps with text and title art in black to upper cover only; pp. [xi], viii-xi, [iii], 3-522, [ii]; very mild browning, creasing, and spotting to covers, extending to the first and last few pages; clearly read, but carefully so, the bulk of the text remaining clean and totally unmarked; the odd corner crease. Rare US Proof copy of one of King's earlier titles, his 13th novel, published in 1983. With publication date and price to front, marked 'Confidential' and 'Not for distribution to the public'. Christine is the story of a 1958 Plymouth Fury possessed by malevolent supernatural forces. Due to its language, sexual content, and demonic undertones, it was banned by the American Library Association, and was removed from numerous school libraries. King is no stranger to banned books, with another three of his works also being placed on the list: his first, Carrie (1974), along with Cujo (1981), and The Dead Zone (1979). A film… Read More

Westhouse. JOICEY, Magda; Edward BAWDEN [Illus.] Cook-Book Note-Book London: Westhouse, 1946 8vo., dark cream cloth decorated in red to upper board, and lettered as such along spine; in the Bawden illustrated dust jacket (8s. 6d. net); pp. [viii], 9-160; with title vignette and full-page line drawings at each chapter heading; a little browned along spine, spotted to edges and prelims; a very good copy in the fragile dust jacket which is evenly browned and shelf-worn, darkened along spine with some rubbing and creasing, particularly to head; reinforced with tape to verso. Hutchinson. First edition published by Hutchinson in 1960. A near fine copy. The jacket is in excellent, crisp shape with hardly any wear. It has been clipped. The book is also very presentable with no marks to the boards. There is a previous owner's neat name to the front free end paper. There is no foxing or browning patches and the pages are clean. It is a book in highly collectible condition. Description:
Pan. The complete first edition set of the James Bond novels, all published by pan between 1955 and 1968. This is a very good set. The spines for all the copies are in tact and all are well bound. Pleasingly there is no previous owner's ink in any of the copies. The most valuable book is OHMSS and that has a repair to the bottom of the spine but otherwise is in nice condition and in a protective cover. Casino Royale also has very little wear. All the volumes have browned pages as can be expected and some minor wear to the covers. Two or three volumes have creases to the covers. Overall a very good set and rare with all volumes being first print and the earliest state according to Gilbert the bibliography of Fleming's works.  . Very Good. Soft cover. 1st Edition. 1st Printing. 1955.
