These were used to in conjunction with calendars and aimed at generally male audiences. The salesperson presents these samples to prospective clients for use with promotional items like calendars or catalogs. Insurance companies and auto shops were primary customers. All approx. 8 x 10 inches. Models unknown. Some show evidence of once being attached to something like a calendar, with bruising on the versos. Batters hired her at Pretty Girl International in Hollywood (where Uschi Digard worked too); Carushka would become a fan favorite for appearances Batters' "Leg Art" digests, standard under-the-counter Parliament magazines. A later volume published by Taschen called "The Caruska Sittings" collects many photos from those sessions. While many of the recognizable images of Carushka were snapped by Batters, her work at Parliament echoed a different perspective, finding her more in the boudoir than outdoors on a swing, likely the poser for photographers at PN like Ron Vogel and Keith Bernard. Vintage "demolition derby" magazine program devoted to the Cavalcade of Thrills, an "all-girl" auto daredevil thrill show that operated 1959-73. The show featured demolition-like thrills, but was not a "demolition derby" by nature, absent were intentional automobile-to-automobile crashes.Produced by Chester Rotroff, who began working in fairs as a sound engineer, by 1959 produced his own shows, like Hollywood Cavalcade, Broadway Scandels, Old Dominican Jamboree and Plantation Caravan.
