Fine in very good dust jacket. Jacket shows sun-fading to the spine panel, a slight crease to the base of the spine panel, and some faint rubbing. FIRST EDITION. SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR on the front free endpaper. Established in 1891 as a women's college focused on teacher training, the school became co-educational and was given its present name in 1963. The author, Allen W. Trelease (d. 2011), was a professor of history at UNC-G and the chair of the history department (1984-1992).

Spine panel of dust jacket is sun-faded and shows tiny tears at base with repair on verso. FIRST EDITION. PRESENTATION INSCRIPTION SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR, dated in the year of publication, on the title page. A memoir of the author's boyhood in the vicinity of Cloud Chief, Washita County, Oklahoma. There is much also on the Gantz family. Included are recollections of a covered wagon trip to Texas, Dawson's education at the Eureka School, the expansion of roads and the coming of automobiles, the Arapahoe Indians living near Colony, social life, etc.

Small, light stain to two pages, not affecting illustrations; book is otherwise fine. Portfolio is very good with small stain on front panel and uniform sun-fading to spine and front panels. Small areas of glue residue on unprinted portions of gutter of portfolio (evidently, a previous owner had tipped the book into the portfolio and it was later freed; see photo). FIRST EDITION. One of 1,500 copies. Text in Italian and English. Illustrated throughout with drawings and photographs and several mounted color plates. Issued on the 50th anniversary of the Fabiani family's fashion house, this work focuses on Alberto Fabiani's work in the 1950's. Includes essays by Giorgio Ottone and Irene Brin.

Minor soiling to cloth, faint erasure to front free endpaper, lightly penciled name on the title page that should be virtually undetectable if erased (we will do so at the buyer's request). The jacket has shallow chips at the ends of the spine panel, not affecting lettering, a small stain to the spine panel extending onto the rear panel, and a clean split to the top and bottom thirds of the fold where the front panel and front flap meet (the flap is holding well at the center of the fold and jacket is now mylar protected). The pamphlet contains the text of the existing state constitution and an act proposing four constitutional amendments that were to be submitted to the people for their approval, together with directions for administering the ballot. Marginal foxing to the frontispiece; title page a little tanned and with offsetting from the frontispiece; light scattered foxing throughout. Still, about very good. Later edition. It is addressed to Doug O'Dell, who was the proprietor of Chapel Hill Rare Books in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. While the inscription is unsigned, the handwriting is identical to another item in my inventory that was signed by Phelps on the same date. The papers in this collection were written for a symposium held in honor of Phelps on the occasion of his retirement from Duke University, where he was a longtime professor of German. Phelps was also a pioneer in the use of computers in foreign language education. Light tanning to endpapers appears to have been caused by contact with dust jacket, but none is present. Neat name (J. Tolbert) on front free endpaper. FIRST EDITION. Cornelius Harnett (1723-1781) was one of the most prominent leaders of the Revolutionary cause in North Carolina, who served in the Continental Congress from 1777-1779. The author, Robert Digges Wimberly Connor (1878-1950), was a professor of history of at the University of North Carolina, secretary of the North Carolina Historical Commission, and the first Archivist of the United States (1934-1941). Jacket shows light rubbing to spine panel, slight bumps to ends of spine panel, and soiling to rear panel. FIRST EDITION. A first-person account of ranch life on the "Staked Plains," the vast tablelands of eastern New Mexico and the Texas Panhandle. The author moved to the Llano Estacado in 1887. His wrote extensively about his experiences as a cowboy in newspapers and periodicals under the pen name, "Ol' Waddy.

Printed on two sheets of roughly equal size, one coated blue-gray, the other coated red, pasted together as issued. Folded with three vertical and seven horizontal creases, and in want of professional flattening. Else good. Small chips and tears at several of the intersections of the folds and to the edges, with minimal impact on lettering; slight toning along some folds. A large poster addressed to the citizens of Luxeuil, France, thanking them for hosting a celebration in commemoration of Franco-American cooperation in World War I and the American volunteer aviators who flew in the Lafayette Escadrille.
