Description:
EU: Mimesis International, 2016. NEW. New. David Sylvian may be seen as a philosopher, accordingly to the postmodern spirit, who invalidates identity, while preserving it at the level of non-sound, in a troubled relationship between the ego and the others. His most recent songs have been analysed, as well as the lyrics and Sylvians way of life. Music is the goal of a path of self-realization, which brought Sylvian to conceive a new view of arrangement, increasingly deprived of its frills and capable of magnifying his voice, which that it is uncontainable. Sylvian shows everybody that silence may become an integral part of music towards nonsense, or the recovery of existential nudity

Description:
Profiles the life and work of Bert Jansch, guitarists' guitarist and songwriters' songwriter. He has been admired by stars as diverse as Bob Dylan, Johnny Marr and Jarvis Cocker, and this book looks at his life from his early days in Scotland to his 1995 album "When the Circus Comes to Town".
As a long-time admirer, I came away with a deeper appreciation of just how remarkable his style was and how influential he would prove to be. Colin Harper has taken the opportunity of using much of the first half of the book to present an interesting history of the underground folk and blues scene in Scotland and London in the '60s, which seems by way of compensation for the fact that the figure of Bert remains elusive, even after this comprehensive bio (no criticism of the author: he is always thorough; it's the nature of the subject, I reckon). Though I agree with Chris Glenn that discussion of his albums is rather thrown away in comparison to the analysis of socio-historical background

Description:
Although they have recorded over 50 albums in 30 years, Tangerine Dream remain one of the most elusive and difficult to categorize of music groups. Author Paul Stump, self-confessed TD fan, presents a critical discography that picks its way through new releases and dud disks that failed to ignite. He traces the development of electronic music and the shifting musical stances and line-ups that have proliferated Tangerine Dream's long career.

Description:
This was the third in a trio of publications aimed at providing a detailed encyclopaedic guide to rock and pop music of the golden era from the early sixties to the mid-seventies. Fuzz Acid and Flowers provided a comprehensive guide to the garage, psychedelic and hippie rock of the USA. The Tapestry Of Delights dealt with a wide range of musical genres in the UK during this era.
This publication branches out to cover rock, pop, beat, folk, folk-rock, blues-rock, psychedelia, flower pop, garage, progressive rock and more from Canada and Australasia in the era. It also provides an introduction to Latin American beat, psychedelia, garage and progressive rock. This book includes many artists who failed to attract the publicity they deserved at the time and many who've never appeared in music encyclopaedias before. It contains over 2,600 entries and is profusely illustrated including 12 pages of colour.
