London: George Bell and Sons, 1899. First edition. Folio with 210 illustrations including frontispiece by G. F. Watts. Bound in the original publisher's cloth with the spine and upper cover heavily gilt in designs by Laurence Housman. Light flecking and minor color variations on the cloth but overall a near fine copy with the gilt Housman spine and cover design very bright. (Please note: The color variations on the online image are the fault of the photographer....not nearly as noticeable in reality. Very Heavy. Extra postage required.)

Description:
Chicago: Reilly & Britton Co., (ca.1912). Octavo. Bound in original coarse tan cloth with a repeating pattern of small stylized roses in ochre, orange and forest green on the cover and spine, gilt titles. Printed in soft shades of mint green and blush coral. This handsome book has 191 pages intended for the recording of events and people in the life of a young girl about to step into the wide world. The illustrations and endleaves reflect the strong influence of Arts and Crafts as well as Art Nouveau design and ornament. A pristine copy of a scarce title from one of the leading publishers of the day. There is a curious contemporary inscription on the front free endpaper. "Merry Christmas, "Harry" from Dot...." The lengthy inscription is full of references that are obviously shared secrets amongst friends, with "Harry" certainly being a pet name for a young lady. Only one page has an entry, "Dancing Parties". Dated February 18, 1916, the writer talks about attending a party with Cushman Jordan… Read More

Description:
London: Methuen and Co., 1893. Two volumes, octavo, bound in original finely ribbed blue cloth withgilt titles on covers and spines. Volume One is a first edition. Volume Two is a second edition, with the publisher's catalog bound at the back dated October, 1893. The author's first novel became a smashing success, with ten impressions being called for in the five months following the release of the books. Two volume sets are now quite scarce, with this set being exceptionally clean and bright. The name "Eugenia" is written on the front pastedown of both volumes, repeated on the half-titles with the date 1894 in the first and 1908 in pencil on the second. There is a bit of minor wear to the extremities, else a very good copy of a difficult title to acquire in a "two-decker".
