The first English edition was published by Hodder and Stoughton eight years earlier. This edition has twenty-five full-page tipped-in color illustrations by KAY NIELSEN, including the frontispiece. A number of black and white illustrations through the text, as well as page borders. We have not seen a finer copy of this edition IN NEARLY-FINE DUST JACKET in our many years of selling fine books. Crisp and clean throughout. Kay Nielsen (1886-1957) was a Danish illustrator, quite popular in the early 20th century. He illustrated only five books: "In Powder and Crinoline" 1913, "East of the Sun and West of the Moon" 1914, "Andersen's Fairy Tales"1924, "Hansel and Gretel" 1925, and "Red Magic" 1930.
