Uncommon Cincinnati imprint of this tract from Stowe, whose "Uncle Tom's Cabin" had appeared two years before. Hymn "Nearer My God To Thee" printed on rear cover. Bound in printed self wraps with sewn binding. Light foxing, contemporary prior ownership inscriptions on front cover and rear cover. Two minor archival tissue repairs to head and heel of spine.

Bound in dark blue cloth over boards with spine titled in gilt, upper board with gilt device stamped at center. Minor extremity wear, picture of a sailing dinghy pasted to front pastedown, table of weights and strengths of Manila rope on rear pastedown. Small pencil sketches of two hulls and relevant brief notations by prior owner on rear blank leaf. Hinges sound. Attractive copy, near fine overall.. Diagrams, plates of drawings. First edition of this now classic work. Norman L. Skene was a graduate of MIT in naval architecture and worked with Starling Burgess, the designer of several America's Cup racing yachts. Binding shows just a hint of fading along top and bottom edges of boards, slight dustiness to textblock edges. Prior owner gift inscription dated Halloween 1962 on verso of front free endpaper. Jacket is price clipped and has minor rubs along joint folds and at top and bottom edges of spine. Very good in a very good dust jacket.. Yate's first collection of stories, published the year after his critically acclaimed debut novel, "Revolutionary Road." These stories also received positive critical attention, being compared favorably with James Joyce's "Dubliners.

Photographs inside are all in nice condition, with an occasional edge chip to scattered leaves but with no image loss.. Black and white photographs. Album commemorating the 1956 invasion of Cuba by revolutionaries under Fidel Castro in the yacht Granma. The album consists of individual photographs of the participants in the invasion, opening with the photographs of 27 men who were killed, labeling them martyrs. <br /> <br /> The album includes youthful photographs of Fidel Castro, Che Guevara, and Raul Castro as well as many others. An uncommon souvenir of the Cuban Revolution against the Batista government, which ultimately resulted in the establishment of a new government under Fidel Castro.
