Description:
Denmark 2018. The Early Bronze Age Tombs of Jebel Hafit presents fifty burial mounds excavated by Moesgaard Museum in 1961-1971 in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in the Arabian Gulf. These excavations were the first archaeological investigations at all in this part of the world, and they throw light on the beginning of the Bronze Age on the Oman Peninsula. The graves represent a fundamental transformation of the relationship between humans and the environment in the region, preceding the emergence of oasis agriculture. The graves contain the first objects of copper in the region and show that the exploitation of copper from the Oman mountains had begun. The tombs of Jebel Hafit are inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage list. The publication is the result of a cooperation between the Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority and Moesgaard Museum., English, Year2018, Illust. B/W337, Illust. Description:
Denmark 2005. This book promotes an interdisciplinary research approach operating in a field situated between architecture, aesthetics, philosophy and urban ecology. The book propagates a break with the all-too-prevalent way of thinking within which the environmental requirements in construction have a tendency to derail any trace of architectonic quality. Ecological Reflections in Architecture inverts this perspective, since the environmental ways of presenting the problem are regarded from an architectonic point of view; the book takes its point of departure in architecture. Claus Bech-Danielsen, born in 1961, was educated at The School of Architecture in Aarhus. The book is based on his doctoral thesis and on his investigative work at Danish Building Research Institute., English, Year2005, Illust. B/W23, Illust. Color136, ISBN 8774073400, Code 6220. Description:
Sweden 2000. The artist had made a name for herself in contemporary Swedish art as the “painter of wounds” when she was commissioned to “decorate” the Institute of Education at the University of Umeå. She has also been designated as a minimalist, a concretist and even as an expressionist. In her earlier paintings she alludes to both Nordic and Greek mythology, arousing feelings of running fluids, blood, sick and nausea. Her later work focuses on the interplay with the architectural space. The paintings could be viewed as abstract compositions of black circles, squares, rectangles and at the same time could be seen as both “realistic” pictures of house fronts and as metaphoric human faces. Beautiful photographs of her work are included in this thought provoking book., English/ Swedish, Year2000, Illust. B/W19, Illust. Color53, ISBN 9187214997, Code 5840. Allegro non troppo ma agitato ad ausioso This coupling of the well-known Grieg piano concerto with the rarely heard Szymanowski symphony makes sense when one realizes that the latter, in three movements, is subtitled "Sinfonia concertante" for piano and orchestra. Among the folk sources from which Szymanowski drew in the work was the vigorous fiddle music of the Tatra region of Poland. The pianist is a Chilean who has developed an international reputation and has recorded extensively for Arte Nova., , Year2007, Illust. B/W, Illust. Color, ISBN , Code 6438. CD.
